Stage Movement: Combat - Sword Play

Theater Professor Kelly Morgan teaches students how to utilize the sword as an extension of the character and a a vehicle by which the actor propels the story in his Stage Movement: Combat in Weston Auditorium. This workshop-oriented course utilizes the basic techniques of movement with emphasis on developing each student's potential for effective physicalization of a character on stage.

Around Campus - Microbiology Lab

Students in Biology and Chemistry Professor Dr. Sean Rollins' Medical Microbiology course performed various procedures in their lab in the Antonucci Science Complex. The course serves as an introduction to the biology of major groups of micro-organisms including bacteria, viruses, protozoa, and fungi. Emphasis is placed on their relationship to man as agents of infectious diseases. In the laboratory principles and practices of aseptic techniques and diagnostic identification and culture of disease entities are explored.

Around Campus - Alpaca Yoga

If you drove down Highland Ave. this morning, your eyes weren't deceiving you, there were indeed  alpaca on the quad courtesy of Commuter Affairs. Students got the opportunity to stretch and center themselves, through yoga, in the company of four alpaca from In the Meadow Farm, Lunenburg, MA.

University Police Hosts Coffee with a Cop

This morning, on this National Coffee with a Cop Day, the Fitchburg State University community had the chance to meet with Chief Michael Cloutier and members  of the Fitchburg State University Police as they hosted Coffee with a Cop in the Falcon Hub. Fitchburg State University Police therapy dog Odin was there as well. The mission of Coffee with a Cop is to break down the barriers between police officers and the citizens they serve.

This afternoon, Shane Franzen, Associate Director, Student Development
Commuter and Volunteer Affairs and Advisor, Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) welcomed attendees to the annual LGBTQ+ Flag Presentation and Flag Raising  at Alumni Plaza in honor of LGBTQ+ History MonthDr. Jonathan Harvey and the Fitchburg State Choirs opened the event with renditions of “Music of Life” and “You’ve Been on my Mind”. Speakers from across campus  joined the festivities.

Game Design Program Professor Andres Gonzalez discusses player points of view and immersion with students in his Game Level Design course. In this course, students will learn concepts, tools, and techniques to design & build playable game levels or environments for a series of off the shelf games, both pen and paper and digital. The ability to modify games is crucial to the development of a game designer, and level design remains a core competency for aspiring professionals. Over the course of the semester, students will develop crucial perspectives on iteration, challenge, spatial and temporal dynamics, environmental and architectural design, and gameplay balance, while building the requisite technical and aesthetic competencies involved in developing with an industry-standard 3D game engine, including modeling & construction, placement and editing of objects and textures, lighting design, animation and scripting.
