This afternoon, the Fitchburg State University Career Services and Advising Center sponsored a Major and Minor Discovery Fair in the The Amelia V. Gallucci-Cirio Library. This gave students an opportunity to explore a diverse range of majors and minors for every interest. Students were able to engage with faculty members and current students who shared their experiences and insights, offering a deeper understanding of each program's unique offerings, career prospects, and real-world applications.

Yesterday afternoon, Career Services and Advising (CSA) hosted an Internship Fair in the Hammond Main Hall. The fair gave students the opportunity to meet an array of local businesses and services face-to-face to discuss internships and potential employment. 

Susan Beddes, Associate Director of Internship Coordination and Employer Relations, is leading a week-long resume workshop for our Fitchburg State University Upward Bound Summer Program students. With local internships just around the corner, these students are putting in the work to make their resumes shine and stand out to area employers. Huge thanks to our Career Services and Advising Center for setting them up for success! 

Yesterday afternoon, our School of Health and Natural Sciences and Career Services held a Biotech & Life Sciences Career Forum in the Hammond Main Lounge. The   Department of Biology and Chemistry, in collaboration with MassBioEd, welcomed industry professionals (Biotech, Pharmaceutical, Bioengineering) to their annual Biotechnology Networking Event.  Professionals, many of whom are our alumni, shared their experiences with our majors and introduced them to the different careers within these industries. After an activity on the drug discovery pathway led by Director of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion at Blueprint Medicines Rizwana Seeham, students had the opportunity to network in small groups with our industry volunteers.

Yesterday, our Career Services and Advising Center hosted the Business and Technology Career Fair event in the Hammond Hall Main Lounge. The event was  open to anyone interested in careers in business, engineering technology, construction management, and IT/technology fields. First-year students, sophomores, juniors, and seniors were strongly encouraged to attend and take this opportunity to connect with employers looking to hire Fitchburg State students.  

 Earlier this week, Communications Media's Assistant Professor, Photography Concentration, J Flynn and our our photography students offered professional headshots at this week's   Creative and Common Good Career Fair outside the Hammond Main Hall. This service is the result of a cooperative effort with our Career Services and Advising Center.

First-year students, sophomores, juniors, and seniors were strongly encouraged to attend and take this opportunity to connect with employers looking to hire Fitchburg State students.

Our Career Services and Advising Center  recently hosted a networking masterclass for  Game Design students heading to  PAX East  in Boston later this month. The goal? To equip our students with the skills they need to 'level up' their networking as they connect with industry giants.

University Clubs and Departments held a week full of events In honor of Valentine's Day. From the Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) flower sale, the Black Student Union bake sale, Valentines for Veterans by local elementary students, Career Services and Advising (CSA) : Sweeten Up Your Resume Pop-Up, Alumni and Giving donor thank you valentines, DIY chocolate dipping at Chartwells Dining, and much more. Happy Valentine's Day!

Lourdes Ramirez, Coordinator of Field Placements, Partnerships and Recruitment for Fitchburg State’s School of Education, Early College Dual Enrollment, Fernando Garcia-Rodriguez and Assistant Director of Admissions Eliezer Rivera a cohort of local high school students enrolled in The Future Educator Academy program to campus for a day of programming. Students completed a badge focused on topics in education; CPR- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation with Fitchburg State University Police Off. Emily Ramos, Peer Mediation and Conflict Resolution Techniques with School of Education Professor Emily Fournier, Career Planning & My Future Badge with Career Services and Advising Center Director Lindsay Carpenter Connors, and  Supporting Mental Wellness in the Classroom with Behavioral Sciences Professor Megan Krell, College Reading & Learning Association with Director of the Academic Coaching and Tutoring Center (ACT)  Kat McLellan, and more.
