Earlier today, Career Services and Advising (CSA) held their Career Champions program, which connects and engages faculty and staff who are actively assisting students in determining and reaching their career goals. The content of the program focused on building knowledge of career development theories, learning strategies to incorporate career learning into practice and creating a plan for implementing these strategies.

For those who have ever wondered, "Should I get a master's degree?" They got the opportunity to find out at the School of Graduate, Online and Continuing Education Graduate Fair this afternoon in Hammond Hall, Main Lounge. Those interested were able to ask questions about graduate programs and meet with representatives from Fitchburg State University as well as ten other local universities. Yesterday afternoon, the Fitchburg State University Career Services and Advising Center sponsored a Campus Wide Career Fair in the Athletics and Recreation Center. This fair, with over 50 local businesses in attendance, was for students from all majors and all class years. First-year students, sophomores, juniors, and seniors, especially those in our Criminal Justice program, were strongly encouraged to attend and take this opportunity to connect with employers looking  to hire Fitchburg State students. This afternoon, the university's Career Services and Advising Center sponsored a Health Sciences career fair in the Hammond Main Lounge. The program was open to all students in all majors, with a focus on positions in; nursing, biology, chemistry, and exercise and sports science.

The program was open to all students in all majors, with a focus on positions in architecture; construction management; electronics engineering technology; energy management engineering technology; manufacturing engineering technology; technology/engineering education 5-12 licensure; and technology/engineering education industry training.

Yesterday afternoon, Career Services and Advising (CSA) held a Transfer Student Information Session near their third floor office in the Hammond Building. The informal gathering was meant to catch students up on all of the services they have to utilize here at Fitchburg State University. Students got to mingle, get questions answered, grab a snack, and get some free swag.

The lure of the Taco Bell "BONG" from this afternoon's  Career Services and Advising (CSA) Let's Taco 'Bout Your Career Event was irresistible. In this unique way to get students to start thinking about their next steps, in exchange for creating and posting a career goal, students earned a free taco! 

This afternoon, Associate Director of Student Development & Commuter and Volunteer Affairs Shane Franzen welcomed attendees to the Dedication and Ribbon Cutting of the Falcon Community Outreach Center (formally known as the Volunteer Center) on the G-level of the Hammond Building. The Center houses the Falcon Bazaar Food and Necessities Pantry and Professional Clothing Closet. Laura A. Bayless, Vice President of Student Affairs enlightened people with some eye-opening statistics about student need at large and specifically to Fitchburg State University. President Lapidus did the honors and then toured the facility.
