Gallery Marquee is committed to making art accessible to diverse artists and audiences. This exhibition, entitled CrossCurrents, celebrates the strength and variety of artwork recently created by students at Fitchburg State University and three of our regional high schools. The show features about 60 artworks encompassing a range of artistic media, including drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, and mixed-media art. The public is invited to view the exhibition, free of charge, throughout the summer during our regular gallery hours. Gallery Summer Hours: Thursdays from 12 - 7 p.m. & Saturdays from 12 - 4 p.m.

The IdeaLab houses a state of the art studio space designed to promote applied work and create interaction between students, faculty and working professionals. Student groups are tasked with creating a game wherein students have the opportunity to work with developers from Rockstar New England as mentors, in addition to our faculty.

Fitchburg State University was honored to be part of the groundbreaking ceremony for the NewVue Communities Fitchburg Arts Community, a transformative downtown project that will convert long-vacant buildings into new artist live/work space. Earlier today, Fitchburg State University President Richard S. Lapidus welcomed legislators and honored guests to outline the plans for the Fitchburg State University Performing Arts Center as an economic driver for the North Central Massachusetts area. After welcoming remarks from President Lapidus, Senator John Cronin, Representative Michael Kushmerek, and Fitchburg Mayor Stephen DiNatale addressed the guests. After outlining the benefits of the Performing Arts Center to downtown Fitchburg, President Lapidus welcomed President & CEO, North Central MA Chamber of Commerce Mr. Roy Nascimento to illustrate the benefits to the region as a whole. Attendees were then invited to tour the former Fitchburg Theater - the proposed location for Phase 3 of the project.

Yesterday's Intown Fitchburg First Thursday saw the Fitchburg Cultural Alliance's grand opening of Main Street Studios at 675 Main Street which is housed in the Fitchburg State University Theater Block. The space will offer local artists affordable studio and art gallery space. Local figures, including Fitchburg Mayor Stephen DiNatalie and University President Richard Lapidus, welcomed the new space with studio tours, refreshments, and music preformed by local performers.
