Student teams in English Studies Professor Dr. Katharine Covino's First-Year Experience (FYE) course each created a Public Service Announcement (PSA) which were judged, with a PSA about water refill stations coming out on top. Fitchburg Mayor Samantha Squailia visited the class to sign and give certificates to the winning team.

Students in Communications Media's Professor Charles Roberts' Intermediate Digital Cinema Production course recently learned the ins & outs of creating a dolly sot in the Conlon Studio. Intermediate Digital Cinema Production covers professional production techniques used in modern narrative production environments. In addition to achieving competency in lighting, exposure, composition and framing with video cameras, students master the basics of audio production both on location and in studio environments and the editing of the dramatic narrative.

The Fitchburg State University Dance Club held their annual Winter Showcase Friday night and Saturday afternoon to packed and boisterous audiences. Each performance was choreographed by a member of the club, and the performances were amazing!

Students in Biology and Chemistry Professor Elizabeth DiLoreto's Human Anatomy & Physiology I Lab us human brain models to map major structures during a dissection in the Antonucci Science Complex. The course explores the structure and function of the human organism on the cellular, tissue, organ, and system levels. Cellular metabolism, histology, and the following systems: skeletal, muscular, and nervous (including the special senses) are examined. The laboratory emphasizes both physiology and the dissection of preserved mammalian specimens.

The University recently hosted the North Central Massachusetts Chamber of Commerce'sCommunity Leadership Institute Class of 2026 in the Hammond Main Lounge. In the morning, Business Department Chair and CLI Instructor Dr. Michael Greenwood led the group in a team exercise. Later in the day, President Donna Hodge, along with Nicole Conroy of My Turn Inc., Thomas Browne of Montachusett Regional Vocational Technical School, and Mount Wachusett Community College (MWCC) President James Vander Hooven spoke to the class about challenges facing the region through the lens of education.
Students got a chance to unwind last night, at the Fitchburg Activities Board (FAB) sponsored ChristmasHanukkahKwanzaKings (Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/Three Kings) event. Various student groups were on hand to spread holiday cheer with holiday themed crafts, the wildly popular stuff-a-plush, and much more. Meanwhile, members of the administration passed hors d'oeuvres festooned in holiday garb.

This morning, Communications Media Professor Kyle Moody welcomed Worcester District Attorney Joseph D. Early Jr. to view a presentation by students in his Social Media Advertising & PR course. The students spent the fall semester designing multimedia collateral for the Worcester County District Attorney’s public relations campaign to encourage safe driving for mobile phone users.
Yesterday afternoon the Fitchburg Activities Board (FAB) hosted a Walk on the Wild Side courtesy of Animal Adventures h in the main lounge of Hammond.
