Fitchburg State University’s instrumental and choral ensembles performed a joint concert last evening in Weston Auditorium. The concert program served as  a showcase of “bite-sized” performances by the university’s choirs, bands and orchestra. Ensembles included Fitchburg State students, community members, faculty and staff. Students from English Studies Professor Katharine Covino's FYE course - "What Do We Owe Ourselves? & What Do WE Owe Each Other?" - completed a Day of Service at the Fitchburg State University Falcon Bazaar Food Pantry and Professional Clothing Closet. After some instruction from Student Staff, students rotated and stocked food and toiletry items as well as organizing clothing by size, color, and type.

Nursing  students learn the methods of, and importance of wound care in their Nursing Foundations Lab. In this course, emphasis is placed on professionalism, caring, communication, cultural considerations, spirituality, sexuality and health promoting activities. 

Dr. Jonathan Harvey held practice for the Fitchburg State Concert Choir in Weston Auditorium. As part of their regular practice, the choir ran through the pieces they will be performing at tomorrow's Music Mega Mix.   Learn more about our music programs here.

Students in Theater Professor Kelly Morgan's Stage Movement: Combat course work in small groups to rehearse the combat scenes they've conceived as part of the coursework.  The class teaches students how to utilize the sword as an extension of the character and a a vehicle by which the actor propels the story.

Before this afternoon's football game, Homecoming Weekend continued  with the Falcons Tailgate at the Wallace Civic Center parking lot. Fans and family alike geared up for the day’s games with their own tailgate cookout,  along with Identity Coffee, photo station, giveaways and cornhole. If you stopped by President Hodge’s Tailgate Tent, you got one of President Hodge's, literally, branded Fitch-burgers. Afterward, the festivities will moved to Elliot Field where the Falcons football team took on the Mass. Maritime Academy Buccaneers. 

After yesterday afternoon's pep rally to kick off Homecoming Weekend, Ross St. Parking Lot was transformed for a Carnival. Homecoming is our annual celebration that brings our entire Falcon community together for an amazing fall weekend and the opening was amazing, we celebrated our athletic teams, and everyone enjoyed  rides, games, food and more!

This afternoon, our homecoming celebration kicked off with a pep rally on the main quadrangle. The Fitchburg State University community gathered to cheer on the Falcons as they geared up for a weekend of athletic competition and school spirit.

Economics, History and Political Science Department Professor Joshua Spero Introduced Dr. Klaus Hegemann, Professor of International Business Administration and International Relations at Rhine-Waal University  in Kleve, Germany who spoke about Expanding the Rhine-Waal University-Fitchburg State University Partnership in the Falcon Hub.

Students in Biology and Chemistry Professor Billy Samulak's Chemistry for Health Science lab worked on an experiment in the Antonucci Science Complex. This course is designed specifically for nursing and exercise sports majors and will include a study of selected topics from general chemistry, organic chemistry and biochemistry. (This course will not fulfill the requirements of the biology major or healthy professional programs such as medicine, dentistry, veterinary science, pharmacy, physical therapy, occupational therapy and physician assistant).
