Communications Mediamajor, and Political Science minor, Joshua Cronin recently discussed his experience with Fitchburg State University's Summer Bridge Program. Joshua, who has been working with the staff at  Fitchburg Access Television's (FATV) this semester to produce a news program with fellow student Zoe Chrisostomides called North Central News remembers his experience as key to his attending Fitchburg State.

Student Development sponsored a Finals Frenzy on the G-Level of Hammond Hall where students could grab a breakfast sandwich to fuel up for finals.

Part of the college experience is getting involved. We encourage our students to take advantage of the opportunities offered outside the classroom, whether you join a club, attend events, volunteer, or seek employment.

There are currently about 75+ active clubs and organizations on campus. They range from large, general organizations like the Student Government Association (SGA) and Fitchburg Activities Board (FAB), to smaller, more niche organizations like Quidditch club or Exercise and Sports Science club. Starting a new club is also always an option. Gymnastics club and the Ice Hockey club were both recently created in the past year.

Senior Political Science major Allison Turner presented her Honors Thesis - Breaking Barriers: Affirmative Action in Higher Education to Economics, History, and Political Science faculty yesterday afternoon. A lively discussion, and questions on future initiatives, were considered.

Last week, students in Professor Sally Moore's Sculpture 1 class worked with various materials to create human or animal forms. In this course, students explored the expressive possibilities of materials and form with an emphasis on concept and how material affects meaning. Learn more about our Fine Art Program here.

As we embark on finals week, and prepare for our  Graduate Commencement, and Undergraduate Commencement, and all the trappings that come with the end of the academic year, we offer a look back at the Spring Semester 2024. 

Students enrolled in the Fitchburg State University Police Program's Recruit Officer Course (ROC) had their monthly meeting yesterday afternoon in the Hammond Falcon Hub. Here, at the years end, the current class, platoon, and squad leaders - who will be attending the Police Academy after commencement - name the new leaders for the upcoming senior year.

Resident Assistants Ronan, Matt & Spencer hosted a Bear Down for Finals Finals Frenzy at the  Russell Towers Glass Lounge. Students got a grab bag with some snacks, motivational pieces, and more.

Yesterday, English Studies Professor Kisha Tracy  held a reception for her  Writing II class students, mentors from the university community, as well as mentors from our Adult Learning in the Fitchburg Area (ALFA) Program, as part of this semester's  Heritages of Change exhibition. Students and their mentors discussed their various contribution to the project which is a practice of curatorial activism, bringing attention to the heritages of marginalized and emerging topics. 

This afternoon, on the last day of classes, the Office of Student Development set up a grill and gave away hot dogs to mark the day. Not to be outdone, Counseling Services offered ice cream sundaes, and the Office of Alumni and Development offered Add -Your-own -Flavors Lemonade.
