Fitchburg State University held its eighth annual National Collegiate Athlete Honor Society (NCAHS) induction ceremony on Monday, with 36 student-athletes being recognized for their academic achievements.
The National College Athlete Honor Society was founded at DePauw University in Greencastle, Ind. on May 17, 1996, as a student-athlete honor society for the recognition of high academic achievers and sport letter-winners as the collegiate level.
There are 269 chapters of the NCAHS, Chi Alpha Sigma across the country with Fitchburg State University designated as the Sigma Chapter of the Chi Alpha Sigma.

Devin Tormey '22 has always loved to paint, and when she found she could make money selling her paintings as a business, she saw an opportunity to merge two passions.
The senior business administration major from Fitchburg decided to develop a formal business plan for her artistic pursuits as her capstone thesis project for the university’s Honors Program. She credits her advisor, Assistant Professor John Crawley of the Business Administration Department, who encouraged her to fold her artwork into those plans.
“Devin is a tremendously talented student and artist,” Professor Crawley said. “Her work in the classroom is exceptional and her artwork moves the viewer.”

While some students acted out scenes, others recorded the action by traditional and contemporary means; film and digital. Future Falcons joined us at an admitted student open house to see what their life at Fitchburg State could be. The admitted students were able to attend information sessions and get an in depth look at their academic department, talk with current students, have financial aid questions answered, and more. The morning was capped off with the Future Falcon Day Celebration at our Recreation Center.
