The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) sponsored today's Co-Talks in the Park with Dr. Danette Day, Associate Professor of Education at Fitchburg State University and Mr. David Thibault Munoz of Mount Wachusett Community College who talked about Education as a Means to Freedom in the Abolitionist Park, where you will find open air, open minds and open hearts. The CTL is sponsoring two more of these talks, April 20, 12:30 p.m. - 1:45 p.m. and April 25, 11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Engineering Technology: Student Project Competition

The Engineering Technology Department's Engineering Students' Project Competition was held in the Conlon Engineering Technology Lobby. Students in the program presented their projects ranging from self-watering plants, mall ventilation, 3D printed robotics, to potential public safety threats within a smart building, and more.

The Future Educator Academy at Fitchburg State University - April 11, 2022

The Future Educator Academy at Fitchburg State University welcomed more than 20  local high school students to campus today for a day of programming. After a presentation by Lourdes Ramirez of our School of Education, Freshmen and Seniors worked with Dr. Erin Rehig of our School of Health and Natural Sciences, while Sophomores and Juniors learned about financial literacy from Dr. Michael Greenwood of our School of Business.

Future Falcons Day - April 9, 2022

Future Falcons joined us at an admitted student open house to see what their life at Fitchburg State could be. The admitted students were able to attend information sessions and get an in depth look at their academic department, talk with current students, have financial aid questions answered, and more. The morning was capped off with the Future Falcon Day Celebration at our Recreation Center. After a welcome from President Richard Lapidus, Future Falcons, their families and guests, were able to mingle with a multitude of departments and student groups. Our School of Graduate Online and Continuing Education (SGOCE) held a Graduate Fair yesterday in Hammond Hall. Fitchburg State University SGOCE along with local university's graduate school programs, provided this as opportunity for schools to meet the talented students at Fitchburg State University, and connect with potential graduate students. This was an opportunity for our students to learn about graduate school programs, and receive information about the application process.

Understanding the Conflict in Ukraine - Hammond Hall

Yesterday afternoon, the university's Economics, History and Political Science Department; the Office of Student Development, and the Student Government Association sponsored this forum on Russia’s war in Ukraine and its impact on Euro-Atlantic security. Professor Joshua Spero, of the university’s Economics, History and Political Science Department, and student Oscar Burgos Pimentel traveled to Poland last month and saw the impact of the invasion. The trip was part of a faculty-student research project on Transatlantic Relations and Euro-Atlantic security.

School of Graduate, Online and Continuing Education's Graduate Education Celebration

This morning, Fitchburg State University President Richard Lapidus welcomed those gathered in-person, and virtually, to the first ever School of Graduate, Online and Continuing Education's Graduate Education Celebration. After remarks by Suzanne Ortega, President of the Council of Graduate Schools, who joined remotely, Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Catherine R. Canney  presented the inaugural 2022 Graduate Adjunct Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching to Professor Henry Culver. Then a panel of students, Kondwani Moya, and Kamelia Lechani along with Professors Kyle Moody, and Daneen Deptula talked about the graduate program experience.

Academic Coaching and Tutoring Center (ACT) visited the Gear Up Center at Fitchburg High School. Director of the ACT Center Kat McLellan, PhD, and Asst. Director of ACT were joined by Student Tutors Lia Reyes Jimenez, Olivia Willis, and Stephanie Amponmaah Boamah where they discuss future plans, college preparation, and the college experience with soon-to-be-graduates of Fitchburg High School.
