After a welcome from Assistant Dean for Student Success Jason Smith, and remarks from President Richard Lapidus, the inaugural Data & Student Success Conference, began in Hammond Hall. The day-long conference featured experts from across Fitchburg State: Academic Affairs, Admissions, Enrollment Management, IT, Registrar & Student Affairs. This conference served as an opportunity for staff to show each other how data, and data management platforms are used to better serve our students.

Coordinator of Early College and Dual Enrollment Andrew Goodwin hosted students from the Sizer School who are interested in Dual Enrollment. The Dual Enrollment program is unique to the Sizer School and Fitchburg State University. Dual Enrollment consists of college classes that are available to take during the high school day for a discounted rate, and is available to both juniors and seniors. The unique part of this program is that each student can elect to take nearly any course offered by Fitchburg State University, as long as the student meets any prerequisites for said classes. After lunch in the Holmes Dining Commons today, during this weeks Young Falcon Academy Spring Session, students from Fitchburg's public schools, got a chance to have some fun in our Game Room with some of our staff, and students, as well as work on an art piece with Professors Petri Flint and Andrea Olmstead. Young Falcon Academy, a program sponsored by our School of Education, offers students from local public schools the opportunity to get a week long immersive experience here on campus.

The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL) sponsored today's Co-Talks in the Park with Dr. Danette Day, Associate Professor of Education at Fitchburg State University and Mr. David Thibault Munoz of Mount Wachusett Community College who talked about Education as a Means to Freedom in the Abolitionist Park, where you will find open air, open minds and open hearts. Future Falcons joined us at an admitted student open house to see what their life at Fitchburg State could be. The admitted students were able to attend information sessions and get an in depth look at their academic department, talk with current students, have financial aid questions answered, and more. The morning was capped off with the Future Falcon Day Celebration at our Recreation Center. Yesterday afternoon, the university's Economics, History and Political Science Department; the Office of Student Development, and the Student Government Association sponsored this forum on Russia’s war in Ukraine and its impact on Euro-Atlantic security. Professor Joshua Spero, of the university’s Economics, History and Political Science Department, and student Oscar Burgos Pimentel traveled to Poland last month and saw the impact of the invasion. The trip was part of a faculty-student research project on Transatlantic Relations and Euro-Atlantic security.
