Fitchburg State University this year joined the College Fed Challenge, a national competition wherein teams of undergraduate students from across the country analyze economic and financial conditions and develop monetary policy recommendations. Their proposals are then offered in formal presentations to teams of judges.

Yesterday afternoon, the Xi-Upsilon Chapter of Phi Alpha Theta, the National History Honor Society, inducted three Fitchburg State University History students. Afterward this induction, the Political Science faculty and their honor society, the Alpha Delta Kappa Chapter of Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society inducted three Political Science students. The students in HIST 2057 Origins of Hip Hop committed an act of public art this week in Hammond — they took over the bulletin board on the Street level to display their artistic interpretation of the origins of this culture and its influences, complete with quotes they drew from readings.

The Fitchburg State University Campus Center was abuzz today as the university hosts the American Moot Court Association's Eastern Regional Undergraduate Moot Court Qualifying Tournament. Student teams and coaches from as far away as California and Louisiana registered for the event this afternoon. Event coordinator, Economics, History and Political Science Professor Paul Weizer, welcomed volunteer judges, as well as the competing teams. This competition will span this afternoon and all day tomorrow.
