Women's HERstory Month Kick Off - Their Stories, Our Stories

Our Annual Women's HERstory Month kicked off this afternoon with an Opening Reception in the G lobby of Hammond Hall. We commemorate and encourage the study, observance and celebration of the vital role of women in history and our society. Around Campus - Sigma Pi Food Drive

This week, the Sigma Pi fraternity is running a week-long canned food drive to help support the Falcon Bazaar. Each non-perishable food item brought will be an entry into a raffle, prizes may include a 32" television, gift baskets, and other various items. Winners will be drawn on Friday, March 3rd. Young Falcons Academy Week - End of Week Wrap Up

This afternoon, to wrap up our Young Falcons Academy week, where students from Fitchburg and Leominster public middle schools partake in a week full of activities on campus, the Young Falcons wrote Thank You notes, and scripts, which they recorded as part of a video production, Afterward, they got to release some energy in our Game Room.

Young Falcons Academy Week - Alma Mater in Weston Auditorium with Chamber Choir

This afternoon, during our Young Falcons Academy week, where students from Fitchburg and Leominster public middle schools partake in a week full of activities on campus, the Young Falcons were lead by Asst. Professor Jonathan Harvey in the Fitchburg State University Alma Mater, accompanied by the Fitchburg State University Chamber Choir. The choir were asked if they would do an impromptu performance and obliged with a rendition of  a spiritual called "Hush! Somebody's Callin' My Name."

Around Campus - Therapy Dogs in Hammond Main Lounge

Yesterday afternoon, the always popular therapy dogs paid a visit to campus.  Students got a little break from classes, tests and projects by spending a little time with Daisy, Mischief, Penny, and  Fitchburg State University Police's own Odin in the Hammond Main Lounge. These therapy dogs were a welcome respite from the stress that comes with the semester's workload. Keep your eyes on University Events for future visits.

Young Falcons Academy Week - Day 1

The Fitchburg State University Young Falcons Academy Week kicked off today. Our Young Falcons Academy gives students from Fitchburg and Leominster public middle schools an opportunity to see what life as a college student is like. Today, after a tour of the campus, groups had various opportunities throughout the day. Some chose to learn about DNA mapping with Professor Erin Rehrig, others got to try their hands at making shadow puppets with Professors Sally Moore and Andrea Olmstead. These were just part of a busy day full of activities.

Around Campus - Waffles & Scholarships

Associate Director of Student Development & Commuter and Volunteer Affairs Shane Franzen donned his chef's jacket and Mardi Gras beads to cook up some waffles with the rest of the Student Development & Commuter and Volunteer Affairs crew at this morning's Waffles and Scholarships event. Commuters stopped by the G-lobby in Hammond Hall to grab a waffle or two and to learn more about the 200 scholarships, worth over $250,000. that are available. Students decided to have a Community Puzzle Pop Up challenge on the street level of Hammond Hall, just because. Students could stop by for as long as they wanted to contribute to the completion of the puzzle. Whatever progress they made was left for the next participants.

Study Abroad Fair

The Office of International Education hosted a Study Abroad Fair this afternoon in the Hammond Main Lounge. Students had the convenience of asking about the many study abroad opportunities available to them here at Fitchburg State University in one location. Programs available in 2024 include; Peace Studies in Ireland, Rhetoric in Greece - Communications Program, Nursing Program in Costa Rica, Arts and Game Design Program in Japan.
