After some warm up exercises, students in Theater Professor Kelly Morgan's Voice II class recite an excerpt in a dialect of their choice and are given feedback. This course expands the fundamentals of Voice I that included breath, diction, relaxation, articulation and resonance. This involves work on verse and lyric vocal education with works of Shakespeare, Restoration, Moliere and The Greeks. Techniques gained from these classical structures are applied to various forms of character voice work, dialect and commercial voice-over techniques.

Around Campus - Intro to Film and Video

Students in Communications Media Professor Robert Harris' Intro to Film and Video class work on lighting projects. Intro to Film & Video is the introductory course in the Film & Video sequence where students are exposed to the basics of production and post-production for both digital and photochemical media. Topics include understanding and using visual language, camera operation, understanding the film and video production process, basic editing, production crew structure and interpersonal communication. Film Screening - From Sea to Shining Sea

Collin Syvert of the English Studies Department and Professor Kevin McCarthy of the Communications Media Department hosted a screening of a new documentary "From Sea to Shining Sea." Afterwards, a guest panel spoke about the film. The panel included Professor Benjamin Railton, Director John de Graaf, and  Fitchburg Historical Society Director  Susan Navarre.

Communications Media Professor Kyle Moody gives feedback in his Social Media Advertising & Public Relations course. This course explores and defines content creation strategies for various media and platforms. Students propose portfolio pieces that match advertising packages across multiple modalities, and draft material that illustrates how to shift messaging across social media and advertising packets across platforms. Students draft marketing strategies, social media campaigns, PR outreach strategies, and learn to leverage relationships to craft materials that reflect holistic and engaged social media strategies.

Students in  Communications Media Professor  M. Zachary Lee's Cinematography course work on lighting and recording dialogue at the Studio in the Conlon Building. Cinematography is a specialized elective that provides an immersive study of the technical and aesthetic elements of motion picture photography. Topics include film stocks, imaging sensors, focus theory, laboratories, lenses, RAW workflows, lighting, cameras, composition, continuity, color and special processes.

In this course, the history of fashion silhouette is explored along with the design elements used in developing a character's costume. Students will apply historical perspective and utilize the design elements of line, texture, color and gesture in designing costumes.

Kerris '83, Vice President of Developer Relations, Head of Media and Entertainment, NVIDIA at his first ever gallery exhibit opening in the Fiorentino Foyer adjacent to the Sanders Administration Building gallery space, an event made possible by The Clementi Family Lecture Fund.
