Communications Media Professor Kyle Moody gives feedback in his Social Media Advertising & Public Relations course. This course explores and defines content creation strategies for various media and platforms. Students propose portfolio pieces that match advertising packages across multiple modalities, and draft material that illustrates how to shift messaging across social media and advertising packets across platforms. Students draft marketing strategies, social media campaigns, PR outreach strategies, and learn to leverage relationships to craft materials that reflect holistic and engaged social media strategies.

Cinematography is a specialized elective that provides an immersive study of the technical and aesthetic elements of motion picture photography. Topics include film stocks, imaging sensors, focus theory, laboratories, lenses, RAW workflows, lighting, cameras, composition, continuity, color and special processes.

In this course, the history of fashion silhouette is explored along with the design elements used in developing a character's costume. Students will apply historical perspective and utilize the design elements of line, texture, color and gesture in designing costumes.

Around Campus - Intro to Film and Video

Students in Communications Media Professor Robert Harris' Intro to Film and Video class learn to load and use a 16mm film camera. Intro to Film & Video is the introductory course in the Film & Video sequence where students are exposed to the basics of production and post-production for both digital and photochemical media. Topics include understanding and using visual language, camera operation, understanding the film and video production process, basic editing, production crew structure and interpersonal communication. Around Campus - Audio Production for Film and Video

Students in Communication Media Professor Kevin McCarthy's Audio Production for Film and Video elective familiarized themselves with the equipment they will be using this semester. Audio Production for Film & Video is a specialized elective that covers audio acquisition for field and studio production. The course places emphasis on developing best practices for production audio recording in both scripted and unscripted production environments. Students will strengthen techniques in recording dialogue, Sound Effects, Foley, and Voiceover – and apply these skillsets creatively in course projects. By the end of the course, the student will be able to capture the highest quality audio for integration into film or video productions.
