After Monday's She Soars luncheon Olympic gold medalist Gigi Marvin spoke at a small, academically driven Q&A with students, and at the end of the day, she took the ice and did drills and ran plays with our women’s ice hockey club students - a once in a lifetime opportunity for those students!

Fitchburg State University  Students, alumni, faculty, staff, and community partners gathered to reflect on women’s leadership, mentorship, and the importance of investing in the next generation of student athletes. As Women’s History Month begins, at yesterday’s She Soars luncheon.

We welcomed Gigi Marvin, a 2018 Olympic gold medalist, who spoke about resilience, teamwork, humility, and the kind of leadership that grows out of commitment to something bigger than yourself. Her message resonated deeply with the students in the room who are shaping their unique journeys. The Falcon Men's Hockey team may have faced a heartbreaker in Saturday’s overtime finish, but the energy at the Wallace Civic Center never wavered. That’s thanks to Professor  Amy McGlothlin (Director of Bands & Creative Arts Therapies Program), who kept the pulse of the crowd pounding. Leading a fusion of our Drumline and Concert Band volunteers, McGlothlin ensured that while the scoreboard didn't go our way, the Falcon spirit remained undefeated. 

The Recreation Center was buzzing today! Our Falcon Friends—inspired by the incredible work of Best Buddies—kicked off their latest First Friday event.

On Saturday morning in the Hammond Hall Main Lounge, the 2025 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) champion Fitchburg State University men's hockey team was finally handed the glittering, custom-forged rings, transforming months of sweat and sacrifice into a single, overwhelming flash of victory.

Our Homecoming Weekend continued with the Fitchburg State Football Team  vs. Framingham State at Elliot Field. 

Before this afternoon's football game, Homecoming Weekend continued  with the Falcons Tailgate at the Wallace Civic Center parking lot. Fans and family alike geared up for the day’s games with their own tailgate cookout. If you stopped by President Hodge’s Tailgate Zone, you got one of President Hodge's, literally, branded Fitch-burgers. Afterward, the festivities moved to Elliot Field where the Falcons football team took on the Framingham State Rams. 

Yesterday afternoon, our homecoming celebration kicked off with a pep rally on the main quadrangle. The Fitchburg State University community gathered to cheer on the Falcons as they geared up for a weekend of athletic competition and school spirit.

With the help of our good friends at Fitchburg Access Television (FATV) including Executive Director Nathan Glenny, and Operations Manager Travis Falk, students in Professor Kevin McCarthy's Multi-Camera Television Production course got to see what it's like to set up a remote multi-camera production at Elliot Field. From set-up to break-down, teams of students got to operate the cameras, act as subjects, and see how to put the final production together in real time in the FATV remote production truck.
