Yesterday afternoon, our homecoming celebration kicked off with a pep rally on the main quadrangle. The Fitchburg State University community gathered to cheer on the Falcons as they geared up for a weekend of athletic competition and school spirit.

With the help of our good friends at Fitchburg Access Television (FATV) including Executive Director Nathan Glenny, and Operations Manager Travis Falk, students in Professor Kevin McCarthy's Multi-Camera Television Production course got to see what it's like to set up a remote multi-camera production at Elliot Field. From set-up to break-down, teams of students got to operate the cameras, act as subjects, and see how to put the final production together in real time in the FATV remote production truck.

The Boston Bruins Fan Fest Tour stopped at our Wallace Civic Center today with Bruins -centric fun for all ages. Activities included guest appearance by current and former Bruins players, Bruins mascot Blades and our own Freddy Falcon, interactive hockey games and exhibits, personalized equipment fittings for Learn to Play participants, and much more.
Our student athletes are on campus, and Head Football Coach Izzy Abraham is wasting no time at the onset of his second season here at Fitchburg State University. He, along with the rest of the Coaching Staff ran through plays on the quad after holding a morning meeting in the Randall Lecture Hall.

This morning, Women's Soccer Coach Jeb Booth devised a scavenger hunt race so that his players would get familiar with offices and departments on campus. Knowing where to go when you need help, or anything else, is often a hurdle, for college students. This race aids in overall student success.

Fitchburg State University’s Men’s Hockey Team was honored by Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll, State Senator John Cronin (D - Fitchburg), and State Representative Michael Kushmerek (D - Fitchburg) at the Massachusetts State House on Friday, May 2 after their historic season resulted in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) championship.
Fitchburg State University Sigma Chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma held its annual National Collegiate Athlete Honor Society (NCAHS) induction ceremony this afternoon, with 45 student-athletes representing 15 of our 17 teams recognized for their academic achievements. President Donna Hodge, Executive Director of Athletics & Recreation Matthew Burke, Assistant AD - Compliance/SWA/Scheduling Coordinator Bettiann Peura, and Faculty Athletics Representative Dr. David Heikkinen presided over the ceremony.
