The Boston Bruins Fan Fest Tour stopped at our Wallace Civic Center today with Bruins -centric fun for all ages. Activities included guest appearance by current and former Bruins players, Bruins mascot Blades and our own Freddy Falcon, interactive hockey games and exhibits, personalized equipment fittings for Learn to Play participants, and much more.

Our student athletes are on campus, and Head Football Coach Izzy Abraham is wasting no time at the onset of his second season here at Fitchburg State University. He, along with the rest of the Coaching Staff ran through plays on the quad after holding a  morning meeting in the Randall Lecture Hall. 

This morning, Women's Soccer Coach Jeb Booth devised a scavenger hunt race so that his players would get familiar with offices and departments on campus. Knowing where to go when you need help, or anything else, is often a hurdle, for college students. This race aids in overall student success.

This morning at Elliot Field, our Fitchburg State Athletics Staff and team members gathered to assist our  Fitchburg State Falcon Football team be fitted for their gear.

Housing & Residential Services welcomed students on the Falcon Football team  this morning as they, like other student athletes get an early start on the semester. Family, and friends helped the newest residents get settled before they ramp up for this years football season.

Members of our Volleyball Team and Hockey Team recently took full advantage of a warm spring afternoon at the volleyball court by the Conlon Arts Building for a pick-up match.

Fitchburg State University’s Men’s Hockey Team was honored by Lieutenant Governor Kim Driscoll,  State Senator John Cronin (D - Fitchburg), and State Representative Michael Kushmerek (D - Fitchburg) at the Massachusetts State House on Friday, May 2 after their historic season resulted in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) championship.

Fitchburg State University Sigma Chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma held its annual National Collegiate Athlete Honor Society (NCAHS) induction ceremony this afternoon, with 45 student-athletes representing 15 of our 17 teams recognized for their academic achievements. President Donna Hodge, Executive Director of Athletics & Recreation Matthew Burke, Assistant AD - Compliance/SWA/Scheduling Coordinator Bettiann Peura, and   Faculty Athletics Representative Dr. David Heikkinen presided over the ceremony. 

Future Falcons joined us at an admitted student open house to see what their life at Fitchburg State could be. The day's program included campus tours, program-specific information sessions and a reception in the Athletics and Recreation Center. After President Donna Hodge welcomed everyone to the reception, Future Falcons, their families and guests, were able to mingle with a multitude of departments and student groups. The university offers a number of additional visit opportunities, from general tours to specific information sessions geared toward accepted students who are still making their academic decisions. Before the our MASCAC Championship Men's Hockey Team  heads to the NCAA DIII Tournament on Saturday, President Donna Hodge hosted a small celebratory brunch and NCAA Tournament announcement watch party this morning in the Falcon Hub at Hammond Hall, where the bracket and schedule was announced.

President Hodge and  Coach Fuller addressed the team expressing gratitude for their MASCAC championship run, and wishing them luck in the first round of he NCAA DIII Tournament where they learned this morning, they will be facing off against Utica.
