Our newest Falcons, the Class of 2026, began the second day of their Summer Orientation 2022 (Session Three), with some ice breaker activities and major-centric academic presentations. Afterward, they met with Department Deans & Chairs, and Academic Advising at the Holmes Dining Common. These first year students got a chance to go over their schedules as well as learn more about their chosen majors.

After some more introductions and directions, groups ventured out to the quad for some ice breaker activities, then to a day full of information sessions and activities.

Afterwards, groups of the newest Falcons groups went out to the quad for some ice breaker activities, then to a day full of information sessions and activities. Later in the morning, and impromptu game of "beach" volleyball broke out in Weston Auditorium.

Our Office of Student Development Student Orientation Leaders, who are on campus preparing for orientation sessions for our newest Falcons, The Class of 2026, took a tour of Fitchburg, MA yesterday with Associate Director of Student Development, Commuter and Volunteer Affairs Shane Franzen acting as Tour Guide. The trip included many points of interest including the Fitchburg Art Museum, Flat Rock Wildlife Sanctuary, Game On, Dean Hill Cemetery (The Rev), and Cogshall Park. Other points of interest like shopping, restaurants, and local landmarks were pointed out during the drive. The tour was capped of with ice cream at Country Pizza.

Coordinator of Early College and Dual Enrollment Andrew Goodwin hosted students from the Sizer School who are interested in Dual Enrollment. The Dual Enrollment program is unique to the Sizer School and Fitchburg State University. Dual Enrollment consists of college classes that are available to take during the high school day for a discounted rate, and is available to both juniors and seniors. The unique part of this program is that each student can elect to take nearly any course offered by Fitchburg State University, as long as the student meets any prerequisites for said classes. Future Falcons joined us at an admitted student open house to see what their life at Fitchburg State could be. The admitted students were able to attend information sessions and get an in depth look at their academic department, talk with current students, have financial aid questions answered, and more. The morning was capped off with the Future Falcon Day Celebration at our Recreation Center. After a welcome from President Richard Lapidus, Future Falcons, their families and guests, were able to mingle with a multitude of departments and student groups. This morning, Fitchburg State University President Richard Lapidus welcomed those gathered in-person, and virtually, to the first ever School of Graduate, Online and Continuing Education's Graduate Education Celebration. After remarks by Suzanne Ortega, President of the Council of Graduate Schools, who joined remotely, Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Catherine R. Canney presented the inaugural 2022 Graduate Adjunct Faculty Award for Excellence in Teaching to Professor Henry Culver. Then a panel of students, Kondwani Moya, and Kamelia Lechani along with Professors Kyle Moody, and Daneen Deptula talked about the graduate program experience.
