Students in Communications Media's Professor Charles Roberts' Intermediate Digital Cinema Production work on an editing project. Intermediate Digitals Cinema Production covers professional production techniques used in modern narrative production environments. In addition to achieving competency in lighting, exposure, composition and framing with video cameras, students master the basics of audio production both on location and in studio environments and the editing of the dramatic narrative.

University Hosts Fitchburg Police Department Promotion Ceremony

Friday night, the university proudly hosted a historic moment—the inauguration of Chief Steven Giannini as the 19th Chief of Police for the City of Fitchburg and the Fitchburg Police Department. Outgoing Chief Ernest Martineau has served with integrity and dedication. Criminal Justice Professor Dr. David Weiss served as Emcee for the evening which started with welcoming remarks by Fitchburg State University President Donna Hodge , Fitchburg Mayor Samantha Squailia   State Senator John Cronin , Fitchburg State University alum State Representative Michael Kushmerek, and Fitchburg State University Police Chief Michael Cloutier  spoke to the transition and honored Chief Ernest Martineau.

Around Campus - Organic Chemistry II Lab

Students in Biology and Chemistry Professor Mathangi Krishnamurthy's Organic Chemistry II Lab work on an assignment in the Antonucci Science Complex. In this course, chemistry of aromatic compounds, unsaturated hydrocarbons and enols and enolates are covered in detail. Reactions such as elimination, electrophilic addition, nucleophilic addition and condensation are discussed in detail with special emphasis on reaction mechanisms and stereochemical outcomes. The theories behind analytical methods such as IR, NMR spectroscopy and Mass spectrometry are discussed along with their application in structural elucidation of organic compounds.
