Students in Fitchburg State’s game design program work on, and test, their their capstone projects in the IdeaLab which is located off-campus. The IdeaLab houses a state of the art studio space designed to promote applied work and create interaction between students, faculty and working professionals. Student groups are tasked with creating a game wherein students have the opportunity to work with developers from Rockstar New England as mentors, in addition to our faculty.

Biology and Chemistry Professor Billy Samulak found a creative way of reviewing the laws of gas and pressure with students in her Chemistry for Health Science Lab using popcorn, peeps, marshmallows, and soda to demonstrate.

Thursday evening, the Exercise and Sports Science Department presented a Career Night featuring alumni. Speakers Physician Assistant Natalie Antaya, Strength and Conditioning Coach Brandon Mgeni, Bioassay Quality Control Scientist at Moderna Michelle Nkansah, Occupational Therapist Brianna Mirenda, and BSN Danielle Patton. All shared stories of their journeys to where they are now, and what it's like in their respective positions with current students and faculty.

As part of our yearlong Community Read of Trevor Noah's Born a Crime, this event showcased the stories of students and community members through on-stage readings. Much like The Moth's storytelling events, this event encouraged heartfelt, compelling, humorous, and honest tellings of the complex and rich lives led by our peers, students, neighbors, and colleagues. Inspired by the historically and culturally rich vignettes presented in Noah's memoir, we hope this event opened us up to thoughtful consideration of who we are as a community, where we come from, and how we all ended up together.

English Studies Professor Kisha Tracy welcomed Local Storyteller, Teacher, and Alum Todd Goodwin to her Storytelling and Oral Tradition class yesterday morning. After regaling the class with some harmonica playing, a song, and lighting the imaginary campfire, Mr. Goodwin told the story of "The Rich Man's Smells."

Gov. Maura Healey and Lt. Gov. Kim Driscoll joined other state and local education leaders and students at Fitchburg High School Thursday to talk about the impact of Early College programs.

For those who have ever wondered, "Should I get a master's degree?" They got the opportunity to find out at the School of Graduate, Online and Continuing Education Graduate Fair this afternoon in Hammond Hall, Main Lounge. Those interested were able to ask questions about graduate programs and meet with representatives from Fitchburg State University as well as ten other local universities. Students in English Studies Professor Kisha Tracy's Writing II class workshop their next assignment. Writing II expands upon the argumentative and analytical emphases of Writing I, it foster research-based composition. In Writing II, students demonstrate in prose their knowledge of rhetoric, employ a variety of research methods, and become familiar with latest information technologies.
