Ian ( Nursing staff member), beleaguered father of two, brings Joey in for his 12 moth check-up with new addition Timmy in tow. Third-year Student Nurses Haley and Stephanie tend to the patient, including vaccinations, and answer any of Ian's questions about the vaccines and Joey's physical development.

Communications Media Professor Kyle Moody hosted an information session, along with fellow Communications Media Professors J.J. Sylvia IV and Randy Howe remotely, to discuss the MS in Applied Communication with students interested in perusing an advanced degree. 

Students in Biology and Chemistry Professor Steven Fiedler's Chemistry Seminar course present their research in the Liscotti Pavilion in the Antonucci Science Complex. This course is designed as a capstone course for those who are pursuing a major in chemistry. Its overall objective of the course is to provide training in areas critical to success in a job or academic pursuit that may not be covered in traditional courses. 

Students in Professor M. Zachary Lee's Lighting course work together to recreate a scene in the TV Studio. The course provides an introduction to the techniques of lighting, both on location and in the studio. Topics covered in the class include the use of lighting instruments, lighting control media and devices, location lighting techniques, studio lighting techniques, camera movement, composition, metering, the use of lenses, electrical and safety considerations, grip techniques and equipment. Students in Biology and Chemistry Professor Dr. Michael Nosek's Cell Biology course work on an experiment in the Antonucci Science Complex.  In this course, cellular and subcellular structure and function are covered. Major topics include membranes, cell organelles and biogenesis, energy metabolism, regulatory mechanisms, signal transduction, DNA structure and function, transcription and translation, cell cycle control, and cancer development. Laboratory experiments focus on current cell biology methodologies and instrumentation, and include spectrophotometry, cell fractionation, microscopy, electrophoresis and cell culture technologies.

Students in Dr. Robert Carr's Marketing Communication course work on their client-based Marketing Communication Plans during class as Dr. Carr advises each on their progress and helps work through any issues they may be having. These students, after learning and applying multiple marketing research methodologies to better understand a real world client, apply their research findings to produce a Marketing Communication Research Report, a Marketing Communication Plan, and a wide range of professional media that address the needs and challenges of their client.

Second year students in Nursing Professor Jennifer Dupuis  Nursing Foundations  Lab. were able to work wit third year students, acting as coaches, to review all the various procedures they performed over the semester. This course is designed to be the foundation for nursing knowledge and theory. Emphasis is placed on professionalism, caring, communication, cultural considerations, spirituality, sexuality and health promoting activities. 

Students in Professor Kevin McCarthy's Multi-Camera Television Production course spent this morning's class at Fitchburg Access Television (FATV) doing a technical  run through in studio for their final production. Fitchburg Access Television (FATV) Production Assistant Jarrod Roberts was on hand to help out. After the run through, students and Professor Kevin McCarthy discussed plans for next weeks run through.

Students in Andrea Olmstead's Ceramics class worked on vessels they made using the coil method of pottery. The slab building technique starts with smooth slabs of clay that are formed around molds or shaped and cut by hand; these students are making boxes. Learn more about our Fine Art Program here.

The Fitchburg State University Campus Center was abuzz today as the university once again hosts the American Moot Court Association's Eastern Regional Undergraduate Moot Court Qualifying Tournament. Student teams and coaches from as far away as California and Louisiana registered for the event this afternoon. Event coordinator, Economics, History and Political Science Professor Paul Weizer, welcomed volunteer judges, as well as the competing teams. This competition will span this afternoon and all day tomorrow.
