Coordinator of Early College and Dual Enrollment Andrew Goodwin hosted students from the Sizer School yesterday on campus. These students, who are interested in our Dual Enrollment Program, learned about Fitchburg State University from our Admissions Councilors. After a tour of campus, Fitchburg State University Police Program Interim Police Academy Director Alexandra Wysocki, Criminal Justice Professor Michael S. McCutcheon, and three of our Police Program students held a panel discussion.

Students enrolled in the Fitchburg State University Police Program's Recruit Officer Course (ROC) had their monthly meeting yesterday afternoon at our Recreation Center. Lead Physical Training (PT) instructor Eric Bailey, along with PT instructors Dr. Jess Alsup and Dr. Lindsay Parisi of our Exercise Sports Science Program (EXSS) introduced the class to the importance of PT, and ran members of the 7th ROC through some PT exercises.

Early in February, Criminal Justice Program Professor Michael S. McCutcheon helped the 7th Fitchburg State University Police Program's Recruit Officer Course (ROC) review for their recruits officer class comprehensive exam, which they must pass it to be eligible for the Police Academy. All of our recruits passed and will be attending the Fitchburg State University Police Program Academy in May.

Fitchburg State University Police Program Interim Police Academy Director Alexandra Wysocki welcomed representatives from over twenty law enforcement agencies to the Hammond Main Lounge this afternoon for the Career Services and Advising Center's Law Enforcement Reverse Career Fair. A reverse career fair flips the table, students stationed at tables get a chance to pitch themselves to employers, who in turn get quality one-on-one time with job seekers.

This week, during class break, Fitchburg State University Police (UPD) and the Fitchburg Fire Department (FFD) are conducting joint training exercises on campus. This morning's scenario involved a potential gas leak at the Landry Arena. After the initial call from UPD to FFD, officers secured the area while FFD Special Response Unit entered the building to retrieve two "victims." Afterward, the officers recapped with Lieutenant Andrew Lamarche, UPD.

Students enrolled in the Fitchburg State University Police Program's Recruit Officer Course (ROC) had their last monthly meeting of the semester earlier this week in Kent Auditorium. After inspection, students made their way to the auditorium where Professor Michael S. McCutcheon introduced Captain Christopher Garcia of the Fitchburg Police Department, who discussed the department's Civilian Traffic Control Specialists positions, which will pay $57 an hour to staff road details. Fitchburg Police Officer Ryan Kreidler later spoke with the students about the importance of physical fitness and the goals needed to be reached to advance in their careers. Students in Professor Michael S. McCutcheon's Criminal Investigation course evaluated and identified fingerprint types. This course will enable the student to understand the fundamentals of the criminal investigation process. Fitchburg State University Police Program Academy Director Lisa Lane held orientation for the first year students enrolled in the Fitchburg State University Police Program's Recruit Officer Course (10th ROC) yesterday in the Falcon Hub. Director Lane introduced Assistant Professor Michael S. McCutcheon, Academy Instructor Lieutenant Steven Fugere of the Sterling Police, and gave an overview of the program. Members of the Seventh ROC were on hand to help with the orientation.

The 11 members of the 6th Fitchburg State University Police Program's Recruit Officer Course (ROC) at Fitchburg State were sworn in as police officers on Friday September 15, 2023 before an audience of family, friends, elected leaders and public safety professionals. All of the graduates of our groundbreaking program have already been hired by police departments across the state. As the executive director of the Municipal Police Training Committee told the assembled graduates, they are poised to be future leaders in their profession. Good luck!
