This afternoon, the Career Services and Advising Center and the Engineering Technology Department held a Lunch & Learn Engineering Technology Employer Roundtable event. Representatives from Bemis Associates, Consigli Construction, and The Massachusetts Department of Transportation were on hand to network with students in Conlon Hall. Networking events serve as an excellent opportunity for our students to connect with potential employers, learn about different career paths, and gain valuable insights into the current job market.

This afternoon, the Career Services and Advising Center held an Exploration Fair in the Hammond Main Lounge. Fitchburg State University's School of Graduate, Online and Continuing Education (SGOCE) along with local university's graduate school programs, provided this as opportunity for schools to meet the talented students at Fitchburg State University, and connect with potential graduate students. This was an opportunity for our students to learn about graduate school programs, and receive information about the application process.

Today was a beautiful day for our second Fall Open House. Potential students, and Freddy Falcon, checked in and had the opportunity to meet with faculty and students from all of our programs. After Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Patricia Marshall got her hands on the T-Shirt "gun," President Lapidus welcomed all in a packed Weston Auditorium.

The Biology, Chemistry, and Earth & Geographic Sciences departments held their annual science symposium Tuesday afternoon at the Lisciotti pavilion in the Antonucci Science Building as part of our S.T.E.M. Week events. This is an event where the science faculty present posters on their research to get students interested and involved in the sciences.

Fitchburg State University's Admissions and Early College and Dual Enrollment hosted English Language Learners (ELL) students from Fitchburg High School and Leominster High School for a morning information session. Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Patricia Marshall opened this, the second year the university has held this event, where she invited ELL students to a current student Q & A panel, campus tour, and admissions info session - all with live translation. Lunch in the dining commons followed, in order help the students envision themselves as a future college student, and let them know they are valued at Fitchburg State and their diverse linguistic skills and backgrounds are an asset that are community appreciates.

Earlier this week, the Office of Student Development (OSD) staff invited everyone to "Stop by & Spill the Tea" in G-Lobby of Hammond Hall. Tea. both hot & cold, hot cider, and an array of refreshments were offered with the interest of student feedback; What can OSD change? What's on your mind? What's your question or concern? All feedback will be answered on the OSD Facebook and Instagram accounts.

This afternoon, Chief of University Police Michael Cloutier conducted a Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events (CRASE) for Teacher Candidates in our Education Programs. The course, designed and built on the Avoid, Deny, Defend (ADD) strategy developed by Advanced Law Enforcement Rapid Response Training (ALERRT) in 2004, provides strategies, guidance, and a proven plan for surviving an active shooter event.
