Grammy winning Percussionist Neal Smith is on campus today working with Fitchburg State University Students as well as Fitchburg, and Leominster High School students. The day will be capped off with a VIP Reception and a Jazz Concert featuring Neal Smith and all the students he's worked with through out the day. This afternoon, Mr. Smith held a master class with our Fitchbyrds Jazz Ensemble, Fitchburg H. S. and Leominster H.S. Jazz Bands. Learn more about our music programs here.

Young Falcons Academy Week - Community Spanish Project

Humanities Professor Karina Bautista, and students in her Intermediate Spanish course, hosted our Young Falcons this morning as part of her Community Spanish Project. This  collaboration focused on the importance of medical terminology. Professor Kevin McCarthy , along with a student from his Podcast course, recorded the session for an upcoming episode of Perseverantia: Fitchburg State University Podcast Network. Humanities Professor David Svolba took advantage of today's beautiful spring weather holding his Consciousness course on the quad. The course provides the opportunity to develop a deeper appreciation of the nature of consciousness. Students examine consciousness from such theoretical perspectives as functionalism, eliminative materialism, cognitivism and biological naturalism.
