Local High School Seniors enrolled in our Fitchburg State University Upward Bound Math & Science Program (UBMS) met on campus for a College Search Workshop. Our UBMS staff assisted the students with completing requirements and search strategies to aid in their college search and acceptance.

Banned Books Week - Banned Book Storytime

 English Studies Professor Katharine Covino's The Banned Books Club: Exploring Book Challenges & Censorship Adult Learning in the Fitchburg Area (ALFA) course gathered in the The Amelia V. Gallucci-Cirio Library for a a Banned Book Storytime as part of Banned Books Week. Children's books that have been challenged and/or banned were read and discussed.

29th Annual United Way Day of Caring

Today, as in years past, members of the Fitchburg State University community joined other volunteers from local companies and organizations at the United Way of Central Massachusetts 29th Annual United Way Day of Caring. The Day of Caring brings together hundreds of volunteers in service projects to benefit local community groups and the clients the United Way serves, and make a difference through meaningful volunteer projects in greater Worcester area. #dayofcaring

Krysta López, Interim Director of our Center for Diversity and Inclusiveness hosted a Flag Raising Ceremony on the Alumni Quad (between Hammond Hall and Thompson Hall) this afternoon in to kick off Hispanic Heritage Month. Our annual Hispanic Heritage Month celebration of the contributions and influence of the Hispanic and Latinx/a/o community to our history and culture is observed with a series of entertaining and informative events September 15 - October 15.

University Police at Fitchburg Fire Department - 9/11 Commemoration

This morning, Chief Fitchburg State University Police Chief Michael Cloutier and other members of the University Police joined with Fitchburg Fire Department (FFD) at their North Street Headquarters, adjacent to the university, to commemorate lives lost during the attacks on 9/11/2001. The ceremony was held at the 9/11 memorial outside Fire Department headquarters - a piece of a steel beam from the North Tower of the World Trade Center anchors the memorial.

Rock the Block XXVI

This afternoon, Student Development held Rock the Block XXVI on Highland Ave & on the Main Quad. Rock the Block gives students a chance to connect with over 150 Clubs, Organizations, Departments and Non-Profits. There are a plethora of activities, including an obstacle course, dinner, dunk tank, ice cream truck, club demonstrations, free stuff and so much more!

Fitchburg State University Police Program ROC 7 - Fitchburg District Court

Today ,the 7th Fitchburg State University Police Program's   Recruit Officer Course (ROC) are visiting Fitchburg District Court, where they will sit in on a criminal session. The program appreciates Clerk Magistrate Carol Vittorioso and Presiding Justice Christopher LoConto for allowing them to visit the court. Also appreciated was the time they both spent welcoming the Recruits, answering their questions, offering advice and breaking down what they were going to witness in the criminal session.

The "Donut Squad" Celebrates the First Day of Class!
