Future Educator Academy - Badge Sessions

Yesterday, Lourdes Ramirez, coordinator of field placements, partnerships and recruitment for Fitchburg State’s School of Education welcomed a cohort of local high school students enrolled in The Future Educator Academy program to campus for a day of programming. Students completed a badge focused on Supporting Mental Wellness in the Classroom, Working with Students Who are Underserved, Traditionally Marginalized, and Disenfranchised, and a badge on performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to adults and infants.

Lighting of the Campus, 2023

Yesterday evening, the Fitchburg State University community gathered on the Highland Ave. Plaza for the Annual Lighting of the Campus. Members of the staff  spoke briefly after the Fitchburg State Choir began the festivities. Holidays that were spoken about were St. Nicholas Day, Fiesta de Guadalupe, St. Lucia Day, Los Posadas, Hanukkah, Winter Solstice, Dong Zhi, Soyaluna, Christmas, Kwanzaa, Boxing Day, Hmong New Year, and Three Kings Day/Epiphany. In closing, both President Lapidus and Student Government Association (SGA) President Kervens Blanc made remarks, then led the crowd in a countdown to the lighting of the campus.

Highland Plaza Holiday Tree

Student Development staff, Associate Director of Student Development & Commuter and Volunteer Affairs Shane Franzen, and Capital Planning and Maintenance staff members joined forces to erect the Highland Plaza Holiday Tree in preparation for the Fitchburg State University Annual Lighting of the Campus. The campus will gather at the plaza for the Lighting of the Campus this Thursday, November 30, at 4:30.

ALFA - Ukulele: Further Adventures

Paul Luria teaches and eager group pf ukulele enthusiasts for our Adult Learning in the Fitchburg Area (ALFA) program. Paul led the group in some seasonal selections as well as potential choices to play at the upcoming 20th Anniversary ALFA Art Show, May 22, 2024.  ALFA, a lifelong learning institute that serves adult learners in Fitchburg and the surrounding communities.

Multi-Camera Television Production at Fitchburg Access Television (FATV)

Students in Professor Kevin McCarthy's Multi-Camera Television Production course spent this morning's class at Fitchburg Access Television (FATV) doing a technical  run through in studio for their final production. Fitchburg Access Television (FATV) Production Assistant Jarrod Roberts was on hand to help out. After the run through, students and Professor Kevin McCarthy discussed plans for next weeks run through.

Fitchburg State Hosts Eastern Regional Undergraduate Moot Court Qualifying Tournament

The Fitchburg State University Campus Center was abuzz today as the university once again hosts the American Moot Court Association's Eastern Regional Undergraduate Moot Court Qualifying Tournament. Student teams and coaches from as far away as California and Louisiana registered for the event this afternoon. Event coordinator, Economics, History and Political Science Professor Paul Weizer, welcomed volunteer judges, as well as the competing teams. This competition will span this afternoon and all day tomorrow.

MassINC 11th Annual Gateway Cities Innovation Institute Awards & Summit

Fitchburg State University was delighted to host MassINC's 11th Annual Gateway Cities Innovation Institute Awards & Summit today at our Recreation Center. This event focused on positioning Gateway Cities to play a leading role in the clean energy transition. After an energetic performance by Cypha in da Burg, City of Fitchburg Mayor Stephen DiNatale and Massachusetts Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll welcomed attendees from across the state. Fitchburg State University President Dr. Richard S. Lapidus opened the Awards portion of the day's events.

Homecoming & Reunion Weekend Kick-Off - Carnival & Pep Rally

Last night we kicked off our Homecoming and Reunion Weekend with a Pep rally, Bonfire, and Carnival in a transformed Ross St. Parking Lot. Homecoming is our annual celebration that brings our entire Falcon community together for an amazing fall weekend and the opening night was amazing, we celebrated our athletic teams, and everyone enjoyed  rides, games, food and more!
