Students assist Technical Theater Professor Jo Nazro putting some of the final touches on the  set for the upcoming production of American Underground at the Wallace Theater for the Performing Arts in the McKay Complex. Learn more about the production and when to see here. 

Communications Media's Professor Charles Roberts assists students in his Compositing and Visual Effects course. This course delves into advanced visual effects and finishing techniques using modern acquisition and post-processing tools. Topics covered in class include matte generation and clean plate techniques, chroma key shooting and post-production, pre-visualization for effects shooting, rotoscoping and keyframing techniques and project workflow and management. Students will master a minimum level of competency with a range of advanced compositing applications, producing a final project of complexity and quality from pre-visualization through output to target medium.

Students in Professor Robert Harris' Intro to Film and Video class  were all over campus this morning completing an interview assignment. Intro to Film & Video is the introductory course in the Film & Video sequence where students are exposed to the basics of production and post-production for both digital and photochemical media. Topics include understanding and using visual language, camera operation, understanding the film and video production process, basic editing, production crew structure and interpersonal communication. Yesterday afternoon, the Society of Philosophers in American and Communications Media Professor J.J. Sylvia IV's Communication Law and Ethics Class hosted a discussion on how governments interact with and regulate social media platforms. Students and community members reflected on this timely topic at the Fitchburg Public Library.

This morning, students in Professor Kevin McCarthy's Multi-Camera Television Production course were at Fitchburg Access Television (FATV) to evaluate show segments they produced last week at FATV. Executive Director of FATV, Nathan Glenny was on hand to offer his input to the class.

Students in Theater Professor Kelly Morgan's Stage Movement: Combat course work in small groups to rehearse the combat scenes they've conceived as part of the coursework.  The class teaches students how to utilize the sword as an extension of the character and a a vehicle by which the actor propels the story.

Students in Dr. Robert Carr's Client Project Production course  met with this semester's client, the Fitchburg Art Museum at the museum and presented aspects of their campaign so far. Fitchburg Art Museum Assistant Curator Sarah Harper and Dr. Carr provided valuable feedback on the various student group presentations. 

Alum Fouad Nasr, and fellow Barbizon Lighting Company Salesperson Zoe Harris were recently on campus with ETC Field Project Coordinator Jason Perry to demonstrate lighting fixtures during Theater Technical  Director Jo Nazro's Advanced Stage Light Design class.
