Future Falcons joined us at an admitted student open house to see what their life at Fitchburg State could be. The day's program included campus tours, program-specific information sessions and a reception in the Athletics and Recreation Center. After President Donna Hodge welcomed everyone to the reception, Future Falcons, their families and guests, were able to mingle with a multitude of departments and student groups. The university offers a number of additional visit opportunities, from general tours to specific information sessions geared toward accepted students who are still making their academic decisions. Staff, faculty, and students gathered in G-Lobby of Hammond Hall to commemorate the 50th anniversary of it's opening. The Hammond Hall Campus Center, named for President James J. Hammond (1963-1975), is the hub of the university housing many offices, gathering places, student services, and so much more. It's the living room of the entire campus, a place where there's always something happening.
The event also served as a welcoming celebration for our Upward Bound Math & Science program that recently relocated to the second floor of Hammond Hall.

This evening, the Fitchburg State University community held its Annual Lighting of the Campus with a new twist this year. Prior to the lighting, faculty, staff, and students gathered at Alumni Plaza near Thompson Hall for refreshments, games, conversation, and more. A procession then made it's way down Highland Ave. to the Highland Plaza for the Annual Lighting of the Campus. After a welcome from Associate Director of Student Development & Commuter and Volunteer Affairs Shane Franzen, and remarks from Student Government Association (SGA) President Michael Burns and President Hodge, the two led the crowd in a countdown to the lighting of the campus.
