Annual Care & Share Holiday Program 2024

This morning saw the culmination of the Annual Care & Share Holiday Community Program, spearheaded by the Office of Student Development, Fitchburg Community Outreach Center (FCOC) & the Mckay Elementary School. Members of Student DevelopmentMaterials Management, University Police, and TRIO Program gathered in Hammond Hall to gather all the gifts collected for the Care & Share Program, donated by faculty and staff, for delivery to the McKay Campus School. For more than 45 years, the campus community has "adopted" children from the McKay school community to receive unwrapped gifts. This year, 118 Children consisting of 46 families were adopted with Athletics sponsoring 25 children.

Presidential Ambassador Inaugural Green Coat Ceremony

Last evening, President Hodge hosted the inaugural edition of the Green Coat Ceremony for the university's first-ever Presidential Ambassador Program. The ceremony is a celebration of leadership, service, and the boundless potential of our students. Nine Ambassadors were celebrated  for the values they represent and the future they will help shape for Fitchburg State University. In addition to comments by President Hodge, faculty and staff, Fitchburg State University alum State Representative Michael Kushmerek gave the keynote address.

Herlihy Hall Open House

Executive Director of Housing & Residential Services Matt Lechter, along with Housing & Residential Services staff, hosted an Open House for the newly reimagined - and re-opened, Herlihy Hall. Students, staff, and even President Hodge were impressed with the newly transformed housing option.

Herlihy Sneak Peek - Trustees Tour Reimagined Herlihy Hall

After yesterday's Board of Trustees meeting, Executive Director of Housing & Residential Services Matt Lechter offered a sneak peek of the newly reimagined - and re-opened, Herlihy Hall before today's Open House from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Assoc. Vice President for Capital Planning and Maintenance JD Head was on hand to answer any questions or concerns. In addition, Student Trustee Matthew Gill and Student Government Association (SGA) President Michael Burns were on hand to offer the student's perspective.

Theater Student Stories - Board of Trustees

Theater Professor Kelly Morgan introduced Christian Dedier, Gabe Mangrum, and Lina Kherallah at today's Board of Trustees meeting in the Hammond Hall Main Lounge. All three students are involved in the Theater Program and each performed a scene during the Board of Trustees' social hour. After their performances, they were interviewed about their experiences here at Fitchburg State University by Matthew Bruun, Executive Director of Communications and Public Affairs.

Fitchburg Activities Board (FAB) - Last Day of Classes Activities

The Fitchburg Activities Board (FAB) sponsored last day of class activities in the G-Lobby of Hammond Hall. Students were treated to a nacho/tater tot bar and various stress relieving activities - with slime making being the most popular. One student was heard to say, "I am totally playing with this slime during my final."

ChristmasHanukkahKwanzaKings Event

Students got a chance to unwind last night, on the eve of the last day of class, at the Fitchburg Activities Board (FAB) sponsored ChristmasHanukkahKwanzaKings (Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/Three Kings) event. Various student groups were on hand to spread holiday cheer with holiday themed crafts, the wildly popular stuff-a-plush, and much more. Meanwhile, members of the administration passed hors d'oeuvres festooned in holiday garb.

Around Campus - Therapy Dogs

Guitar Class - End of Semester Performance

Students in Edward Troxler's guitar course used today's class session to hold a final performance in the Conlon Fine Arts building. Students performed individual, duet, and ensemble selections.  In this class, students learned the fundamentals of guitar playing including basic chords, scales, arpeggios and techniques for playing a variety of musical styles. Edward Troxler operates Eddy's Music located in Fitchburg, MA.
