Women's History Month: How Do You Roar?

Yesterday afternoon, our Disability Services presented How Do You Roar? A Reflection on Human Dignity, Disability, and to Making a Better World with alumnae Pat Deegan. Deegan shared her story of being diagnosed with schizophrenia as a teenager and being told she would be ill for the rest of her life. Today Pat runs her own company and lectures to audiences around the world about recovery after a diagnosis of psychosis. She shared her journey of recovery and invited the audience to reflect upon their unique ROAR.

Caribbean Student Association Fundraiser

Around Campus - Chamber Choir Practice for Spring Music Mega Mix

Our Chamber Choir, under the direction of Meredith Neumann, practice for this evening's Spring Music Mega Mix in Weston Auditorium. The concert program is a showcase of “bite-sized” performances by the university’s choirs, bands and orchestra. Performers will include Fitchburg State students as well as faculty members. University Hosts Emergency Management Training

Last week, President Donna Hodge and Fitchburg State University Police Chief Michael Cloutier wrapped up a days-long emergency management training on campus attended by university administrators and staff as well as representatives from the city’s police and fire departments by handing out giftbags as a token of their appreciation.

Bellinger-Delfeld welcomed the audience in the Kent Recital Hall for Women in the Arts, a continuation of our Women's History Month celebration. Future Falcon Day - March 22, 2025

Future Falcons joined us at an admitted student open house to see what their life at Fitchburg State could be. The day's program included campus tours, program-specific information sessions and a reception in the Athletics and Recreation Center. After President Donna Hodge welcomed everyone to the reception, Future Falcons, their families and guests, were able to mingle with a multitude of departments and student groups. The university offers a number of additional visit opportunities, from general tours to specific information sessions geared toward accepted students who are still making their academic decisions. Best-selling Author and Illustrator Peter H. Reynolds, a 1983 Alumnus On Campus

Best-selling author and illustrator Peter H. Reynolds, a 1983 alumnus of Fitchburg State University, returned to the campus earlier this month for an artist residency for a series of events with students, faculty and community members. On this day, Mr. Reynolds visited students at the McKay Arts Academy. His instant rapport with students was evident as he shared his story, taught students how to draw, enlisted a student to act out his book The Dot - playing the role of Vashti, and more.

Around Campus - General Biology II Lab

Students in Biology Professor Christopher Picone General Biology II Lab are studying invertebrate anatomy, In this particular lab, the invertebrates  being studied are earthworms and lobsters. Someone isn't  fan of the lobster. 😁 The course examines principles of organismal biology. Topics include evolution, diversity, plant biology, and animal biology. The laboratory emphasizes hypothesis formation and data analysis.

ARTeries 2025 - Opening Reception

Students, their families, faculty and staff gathered in Hammond Gallery.  yesterday afternoon for the opening reception of ARTeries. ARTeries is Fitchburg State University Fine Art Department’s  annual juried exhibition that showcases the strongest original student work in drawing, painting, sculpture, and mixed-media art. ARTeries provides an opportunity for the university community to celebrate the artistic talents of Fitchburg State students. Student works will be on display until April 17, 2025.
