Go Falcons, 2025 MASCAC Championship!

The Falcons men's ice hockey team won the MASCAC championship on Saturday, March 8, defeating the Trailblazers of MCLA before a packed crowd at the Wallace Civic Center. The win marks the third MASCAC title for the Falcons. The Falcons, who were seeded #4, clinched their entry into the NCAA Tournament with the win over #8 MCLA, winning the MASCAC Championship for the first time since 2018 and the third MASCAC Championship (2011, 2018, 2025) in the history of the program. The team now moves on to the NCAA Tournament, and will learn Monday morning where they will travel for the first round. Watch the game, courtesy of  Fitchburg Access Television (FATV), here.

Students in  Communications Media Professor  M. Zachary Lee's Cinematography course work lighting color and gels at the Studio in the Conlon Building. Cinematography is a specialized elective that provides an immersive study of the technical and aesthetic elements of motion picture photography. Topics include film stocks, imaging sensors, focus theory, laboratories, lenses, RAW workflows, lighting, cameras, composition, continuity, color and special processes.

Nursing Foundations Lab; Medications via Injection

 Nursing  students learn the methods of, and importance of checking with, and informing, a patient before injecting ordered medications in their Nursing Foundations Lab. In this course, emphasis is placed on professionalism, caring, communication, cultural considerations, spirituality, sexuality and health promoting activities.

Victimology Class - Self Defense Lessons from FSUPD

Officer Emily Ramos and Dispatcher Supervisor Jennie House of the Fitchburg State University Police Department gave lessons to students in Criminal Justice Professor Dr. David Weiss' Victimology course at our Recreation Center. In this course, students will learn: the definition of victimology; of victimology's historical perspective and the startup of the victims' rights movement; of the different types of victimizations; about the two main methods of measuring crime in America; of the roles and responsibilities of the many principals within the criminal justice system as they relate to victims' rights; and, learn about victim services and assistance in responding to criminal victimizations.

Wellness Fair

The Fitchburg State University  Counseling Services team and other offices on campus throughout Hammond Hall held a Wellness Fair to celebrate the opening of their new wellness space on the second floor. Students got to visit therapy animals, do some wellness activities, get wellness related supplies, grab a snack, and more.

Women's History Month: Women in Law Enforcement

This Afternoon, Our Women's History Month celebration continued with a Women in Law Enforcement panel discussion at  Fitchburg State University Police Program's Recruit Officer Course (ROC) monthly meeting in Weston Auditorium. Fitchburg State University Police Program  Police Academy Director Alexandra Wysocki welcomed Lt. Kaitlyn Mercurio – Waltham PD. Officer Krista-Jean Forand – Carver Police Department Lt. Eleni Barbieri – Springfield PD Sgt. Det. Amyleigh DeVito Boston PD   Officer Olivia King has been a member of the Tyngsborough Police Department Deputy Chief Nancy O’Loughlin – University of Massachusetts at Worcester). At the event, attendees got to hear about their career paths and unique experiences in a profession that is only 13% female.

This first-semester general college physics course consists of studies in the principle and application of classical mechanics, waves, sound and heat. Typical topics include description of motions, Newton's laws of motion, Kepler's law of planetary motion, universal gravitation, work and energy, conservation laws, temperature, heat, and laws of thermodynamics.
