Dance Club Spring Showcase 2025

Last night, the Fitchburg State University Dance Club held the first performance of their annual Spring Showcase to a boisterous audience in Weston Auditorium. Each performance is choreographed by a member of the club, and the performances were amazing! Their matinee performance will be held today, April 12 at 1 p.m. in Weston Auditorium. Admission is $5 and tickets are available online or at the door.

Around Campus - Energy & Sustainable Practices

Engineering Technology Professor Sanjay Kaul recently took advantage of a sunny spring day to bring the students in his Energy & Sustainable Practices course, along with different solar arrays, outside to measure the solar power they gathered. The course studies renewable and non-renewable forms of energy and sustainable practices including material selection, embedded energy, and material reuse.

Nursing Simulation Laboratory; Liver Failure Scenario

Recently. our nursing students worked through a scenario with Nursing Simulation Lab Director Ian Murray stepping in to play the role of James Irons in our Nursing Simulation Lab. Today, a manikin version of James Irons returned later in life suffering from liver failure.

Students in Theater Professor Mary Vreeland's  Acting 1 course practice their scenes in Weston Auditorium. This course is an introduction to professional stage performance techniques. Students learn how to build a character using techniques such as playing actions, status, physical transformation, improvisation, relaxation and script analysis.

Victimology Class - R.A.D. Self Defense with FSUPD

In a cooperative effort between the Fitchburg State University Police Department and Criminal Justice Professor Dr. David Weiss' Victimology class, students got the opportunity to take part in a Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) course. After a warm up & review led by Dispatcher Supervisor Jennie House, students donned the protective gear with the help of Detective Patrolman Niomi Gayle and Officer Grace Kerr. With Sergeant Andrew Himmer wearing the R.A.D. Aggressor Simulation Training Suit, various scenarios were planned for the students to escape.

Client Project Production - Client Presentations

National Collegiate Athlete Honor Society (NCAHS) inductions

Fitchburg State University Sigma Chapter of Chi Alpha Sigma held its annual National Collegiate Athlete Honor Society (NCAHS) induction ceremony this afternoon, with 45 student-athletes representing 15 of our 17 teams recognized for their academic achievements. President Donna Hodge, Executive Director of Athletics & Recreation Matthew Burke, Assistant AD - Compliance/SWA/Scheduling Coordinator Bettiann Peura, and   Faculty Athletics Representative Dr. David Heikkinen presided over the ceremony.
