Economics, History and Political Science Professor Katherine Jewell took advantage of the great weather and took her U.S. Economic History class to the Highland Plaza where each group debated a case in U.S. economics. This course takes a panoramic view of the economic history of the United States, surveying the course of U.S. history from the early European settlement of the 1600s and 1700s up until the contemporary age of globalization, all from the perspective of and with an emphasis upon the economic matters that informed that history.

For the last month, our Dance Club Pros worked with staff to come up with a 3-4 minute dance, and yesterday afternoon was their last rehearsal in the Weston Auditorium before tonight's Dancing with the Staff event. The Fitchburg Activities Board (FAB) in conjunction with the Dance Club, are hosting Dancing with the Staff as a part of this year's Spring Week 2025 in Weston Auditorium, doors will open at 6:30. The winning Star and Pro will have bragging rights for a year, along with receiving the coveted Dancing with the Staff Trophy.

It was all about selfies and destressing at the Fitchburg Activities Board (FAB) sponsored Petting Zoo for the second day of Spring Week.

Nursing  students learn the process of collecting a sterile urine sample in their Nursing Foundations Lab.; results can be monitored with the aid of real-time feedback. In this course, emphasis is placed on professionalism, caring, communication, cultural considerations, spirituality, sexuality and health promoting activities. 

Students in Biology and Chemistry Professor Daniel Welsh's Human Anatomy & Physiology 2 course review for their lab final in the Antonucci Science Complex.

Last week, Provost Patricia Marshall welcomed those gathered in the President's Hall for Behavioral Sciences Professor Patricia Arend's Harrod Lecture. After an introduction by Chair of the Behavioral Sciences Department Richard Wiebe, Professor Arend presented her Harrod Lecture: "The Irresistible White Wedding: Cultural Capital, Homosociality, and Guilty Pleasures."

Earlier this week, members of the Bio/Chem Club, along with Biology faculty, gathered at the McKay Campus School parking lot to pick up trash on Rindge Rd. to mark Earth Day. Fitchburg State University Police were on hand to make sure the participants were safe.

Fitchburg State University Police Program  Police Academy Director Alexandra Wysocki and  three of our Police Program students entertained the Future Falcons in the Wallace Gym at the McKay Elementary School. The students got a chance to learn a bit about how important physical fitness, stamina, and cooperation is in the effort to become a police officer. The session ended with Director Wysocki and student inviting the Young Falcons to share what qualities they would appreciate in these soon-to-be officers.

Students in Intro to Studio Art class learned about making a pinch pot in the Conlon Fine Arts building. This course provides a hands-on introduction to drawing, painting, and sculpture. The course emphasizes the fundamentals of each studio discipline, and will also explore the expressive potential of visual art: how the various elements of drawing, painting, and sculpture can be used to embody very different feelings and ideas. Last week, Freddy Falcon was on the quad handing out cookies and swag to remind everyone of tomorrow's President Donna Hodge's Investiture and Installation Ceremony. The Fitchburg State University community and beyond will be celebrating the investiture of Dr. Donna M. Hodge as the 12th President of Fitchburg State University. This formal ceremony will mark the official installation of President Hodge into her role as the university's chief executive officer. #FitchburgStateHodgeEra
