Summer Orientation 2025 - Session 1, Falcon's Choice

Part of our Summer Orientation 2025 allows our newest students to pick their adventure among the many choices are Fitchburg in the Arts, and taking part in a Service Project. 

Fitchburg in the Arts; Fine Art Program Professor Andrea Olmstead walked students through expectations while Director for our Creative Arts Therapies Amy McGlothlin and Director for our Creative Arts Enterprise Jonathan Harvey - with help from current students in our many bands and choirs - held an abridged percussion and singing clinic. English Studies Professor DeMisty Bellinger-Delfeld discussed our Creative Writing Programs.
Service Project; Students put together hygiene & laundry kits for our Falcon Bazaar.

Summer Orientation 2025 - Academic Transitions

Day two of our Summer Orientation 2025  began with a post breakfast presentation by FYE Coordinator, Professor and Department Chair, Psychological Science Laura Garofoli about Academic Transitions. Dr. Garofoli gave insight into the differences between high school and college, offering tips and advice about their upcoming transition.

Summer Orientation 2025 - Session 1, Welcome to Fitchburg State University

We are excited to welcome our Incoming students for the first of three sessions of our Summer Orientation 2025 this morning. After checking in, our newest Falcons and their families made their way to Weston Auditorium where they received boisterous welcome remarks from Dean of Students Timothy St. John. Assistant Director of Student Development  Angelo M. Prevosto introduced of our Orientation Leaders who will guide then off to a day full of information sessions and activities.

Retired Educators Luncheon 2025

Yesterday, Alumni and Giving hosted their annual Retired Educators Luncheon in the Hammond Hall Falcon Hub. After a welcome from John Garten, ‘89, President of the Alumni Association, guests received a campus update from Vice President of Institutional Advancement, Jeffrey Wolfman. After that, Mr. Garten presented  the Retired Educators scholarship to Aimee Dennler '26, and the Joel D. Miller Award to Steve Tulli '91, '95. The  Joel D. Miller Award, established in 1955, is presented to a Fitchburg State University alumnus who is recognized as an outstanding educator. Joel D. Miller served as a state senator and member of the Board of Education, and is considered one of the three founders of the State Normal School in Fitchburg. In 1903, he was honored with the name of one of the university’s first dormitories, Miller Hall. In his honor.
