Around Campus - Elements of Game Design

Students in Professor Samuel Tobin's Elements of Game Design course work out, and try out, their classmates re-envisioning/re-utilization of old standby tabletop games like checkers, chess, and cards. Using the elements of these games as a launch point, students are tasked with creating a new game. 

This course introduces students to the process of planning and designing the interactive experience of game play. Students will develop a critical understanding of the formal, dramatic, and systems elements of games across a wide range of game styles and genres, from traditional physical games and sports to video games.

Alumni Career Panel - Mathematics

The Fitchburg State University Mathematics Department held aa Alumni Panel Discussion & Networking session in Thompson hall. The event served as an opportunity for students to learn about different career paths possible with a mathematics degree.  It also provided a connection between current students and alumni working in their respective fields.

Around Campus - Community Puzzle Challenge

Students decided to have a Community Puzzle Pop Up challenge on the street level of Hammond Hall, just because. Students could stop by for as long as they wanted to contribute to the completion of the puzzle. Whatever progress they made was left for the next participants.

Stage Movement - Royal Walking

With the help of some towels and safety pins, students in Theater Professor Kelly Morgan's Stage Movement course learned how to carry themselves with royal airs in Weston Auditorium. This workshop-oriented course utilizes the basis techniques of movement with emphasis on developing each student's potential for effective physicalization of a character on stage.

Study Abroad Fair

The Office of International Education hosted a Study Abroad Fair this afternoon in the Hammond Main Lounge. Students had the convenience of asking about the many study abroad opportunities available to them here at Fitchburg State University in one location. Programs available in 2024 include; Peace Studies in Ireland, Rhetoric in Greece - Communications Program, Nursing Program in Costa Rica, Arts and Game Design Program in Japan.

Criminal Investigation - Forensic Fingerprint Lab

Engineering Technology Career Fair

This afternoon, the university's Career Services and Advising Center sponsored an Engineering Technology career fair in the Hammond Main Lounge. The program was open to all students in all majors, with a focus on positions in architecture; construction management; electronics engineering technology; energy management engineering technology; manufacturing engineering technology; technology/engineering education 5-12 licensure; and technology/engineering education industry training.

Valentines Day in Hammond Hall

Phi Sigma Sigma sold flowers in G-Lobby of Hammond Hall for those last minute sweethearts, an yesterday, The Office of Student Development held their annual Valentine's Luncheon as a fundraiser for Alternative Spring Break (ASB), a long-standing tradition of traveling on spring break to assist Habitat for Humanity with the construction of houses for people in need.
