The CenterStage annual Faculty Show Gallery Reception was held yesterday afternoon in the Hammond Hall Art Gallery. The reception was included a film and video screening in Ellis White Lecture Hall. The Faculty Show will run until December 15th. To learn more, visit our CenterStage page.

Fitchburg State University was honored to be part of the groundbreaking ceremony for the NewVue Communities Fitchburg Arts Community, a transformative downtown project that will convert long-vacant buildings into new artist live/work space. This groundbreaking was the culmination of endeavors by local, state, and federal elected officials in addition to grass roots community effort. 

This afternoon, the Career Services and Advising Center held an  Exploration Fair in the Hammond Main Lounge.  Fitchburg State University's School of Graduate, Online and Continuing Education (SGOCE) along with local university's graduate school programs, provided this as opportunity for schools to meet the talented students at Fitchburg State University, and connect with potential graduate students. This was an opportunity for our students to learn about graduate school programs, and receive information about the application process.

Criminal Justice Professor Michael S. McCutcheon recently held a Fingerprint Collecting & Identifying event for students and anyone interested in the process. Fellow Criminal Justice Professor David Weiss took the opportunity to learn a thing or two. 

Today, our Center for Diversity and Inclusiveness held a Halloween I Scream Social outside the CDI Office in Hammond.

Each year, Fitchburg State University's Office of Student Development holds, and judges, the Staff Golden Pumpkin Costume Contest - this year's theme was Fitchburg State History/Pride as a part of Fitchburg State's Spirit Weeks and Homecoming 2023 festivities. The winning office gets bragging rights for an entire year along with the Golden Pumpkin Trophy!

Senior Cole Brunker assists Environmental, Geographic, and Public Health Science Professor Elyse Clark with her research into soil health in the Antonucci Science Complex.

Theater Professor Kelly Morgan broke students in his Directing the Play course into groups of actors and directors. Each were given a scene and strategy which they then workshopped in Weston Auditorium. Directing the Play is an introduction to the professional stage director. Students will study the work of great directors. They will stage short productions for the class. Students will learn to analyze and develop their scene work. Students will attend performances of productions on and off campus and actively analyze them in class.

Students in Biology and Chemistry Professor Daniel Welsh's Human Anatomy & Physiology 1 course examine the skeletal system in their lab. The course provides a detailed examination of the structure and function of the human body on the cellular, tissue, and organ system levels. Cellular metabolism, histology, and the skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine systems and special senses are examined. 

Today was a beautiful day for our second Fall Open House. Potential students, and Freddy Falcon, checked in and had the opportunity to meet with faculty and students from all of our programs. After Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Patricia Marshall got her hands on the T-Shirt "gun," President Lapidus welcomed all in a packed Weston Auditorium.
