Students in Film and Video Professor Robert Harris' Film Styles Genres & Movements class set up and begin recording a session for their Film School Confidential: Stories of Fitchburg State Communications Department Past & Present. This afternoon, teams of our nursing students, were immersed in a code blue  simulation for patient Curtis P. Rodgers. A “code blue” is defined as any patient with an unexpected cardiac or respiratory arrest requiring resuscitation and activation of a hospital-wide alert. A pause in the scenario allowed faculty to go in-depth in the scenario and allowed the students to work on their CPR skills; given immediate feedback from both the mannikin patient, and external devices. Our Nursing Simulation Laboratory assists nursing students in learning critical thinking and clinical judgment skills in preparation for their healthcare careers. The “manikins” act as lifelike patient simulators, wherein instructors provide real-time feedback via a control center, giving students as close to real-life simulation as possible. Fellow students acted as support staff and assisted the team through the simulation once the code blue alarm was initiated. All students and faculty debrief after the scenario.

For some of our International Students, this is their first time experiencing snow.

Students work on a lab in Biology and Chemistry Professor  Dr. Eric Williams' Developmental Biology class in the Antonucci Science Complex. The course examines a detailed survey of developing embryos from the fertilized egg through the various stages leading to the adult organism. 

Professor Jo Nazro, Fitchburg State University Industrial Technology/Technical Theater alum, starts with the basics to get her Technical Theater students prepared to begin construction for this semester's production. Yesterday afternoon at the Hammond Hall Art Gallery, Artist Candice Ivy discussed her artistic process at the opening of her show “A Wide Golden Blue.” Ivy spoke of how the ever changing environment influences her work. 

It was all smiles this afternoon when the always popular therapy dogs paid a visit to the Hammond Main Lounge, Students got a little break from classes, tests and projects by spending a little time with Daisy, Moka, and Penny.
