Yesterday afternoon, Psychological Science students were inducted into the Fitchburg State University Chapter of Psi Chi International Honor Society in Psychology in the Presidents Conference Room. Students must have least three semesters (45 credits) of college coursework, three semesters (45 credits) of college coursework, and least three courses (9 credits) in psychology at Fitchburg State University, including PSY 2100 Research Design and Analysis II. Students are eligible for induction if the following criteria are met:

Earlier this week, members of the Outdoor Adventure Club and Honors Program, gathered outside the Antonucci Science Complex then proceeded to Rindge Road for a cleanup. The event was coordinated by  Biology Professor Christopher Picone, and Education Professor Danette Day pitched in with the clean up.

Humanities Professor Karina Bautista, and students in her Intermediate Spanish course, hosted our Young Falcons this morning as part of her Community Spanish Project. This  collaboration focused on the importance of medical terminology. Professor Kevin McCarthy , along with a student from his Podcast course, recorded the session for an upcoming episode of Perseverantia: Fitchburg State University Podcast Network. This afternoon, we capped off our day of celebrating our student's scholarly achievements at our annual Honors Convocation. A reception in the Antonucci Science Complex followed.

This morning, the university held our annual Undergraduate Conference for Research and Creative Practice in Hammond Hall. The conference is a public forum to enhance student's  skills, to share their work, to see the work of others in their field, and to give and receive valuable feedback. The conference was free to attend and open to the public. We're proud of the work our undergraduate community does -  from the opening performance of the Fitchburg State University Choir, to the outstanding research, presentations, creative writing readings, and more, to the closing performance of the Fitchburg State Modern Jazz band at lunch.

Dr. Jonathan Harvey held practice for the Fitchburg State Chamber Choir in Weston Auditorium. As part of their regular practice, the choir ran through the three pieces they will be performing at the opening of tomorrow's Undergraduate Research Conference.   Learn more about our music programs here.

In order to get a better understanding of how our nursing students prepare, the nursing faculty and senior nursing students held the first of two  “Nursing in Action”
Programs this afternoon in the clinical labs at Thompson Hall. This event gave future nursing students the chance to see training topics lead by our senior nursing students including; Fall Prevention, Pediatric CPR, and Safe Body Mechanics among others. Theater Professor, and Sign Language Interpreter, Kelly Morgan teaches students sign language during our Young Falcons Academy Week. The Young Falcons Academy Week is where students from Fitchburg and Leominster public middle schools partake in a week full of activities on campus.
