Students in the Fitchburg State University Police Program's Recruit Officer Course (ROC) had “Working with Persons with Disabilities” this afternoon with (Ret.) Sgt. Tim Grant. Sgt. Associate Director of Student Development & Commuter and Volunteer Affairs Shane Franzen welcomed the second group of our newest Falcons, the Class of 2027, to our Recreation Center, to take part in packaging meals for End Hunger NE. Matthew, from End Hunger NE, and our Orientation Leaders, gave directions to our eager Falcons and set them on their way to packaging 15,000 meals. Thanks to all!

Director of Counseling Services/Assistant Dean, Student Affairs Dr. Robert Hynes welcomed parents to a panel presentation by Lindsay Carpenter Connors, Director of  Career Services and Advising Center, Disability Services, Kat McLellan, Director of Academic Coaching and Tutoring Center, and Kelly Goncalves, PA-C of Community Health Connections. Parents were informed of all of these, and more, student support services available to them at Fitchburg State University.

We are very excited to welcome our Incoming students for the first session of our Summer Orientation 2023 this morning. Our newest Falcons, the Class of 2027, gathered in the Hammond Hall before making their way to Weston Auditorium where they received boisterous welcome remarks from Associate Dean for Student Development Hank Parkinson, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Patricia Marshall, and Vice President for Student Affairs Laura Bayless. After introduction of our Orientation Leaders, groups ventured out to the quad for some ice breaker activities, then to a day full of information sessions and activities.

It was “Defensive Training Friday” yesterday for the 6th  Fitchburg State University Police Program's   Recruit Officer Course (ROC). This was their 3rd Defensive Tactics training day, The 6th will have 80+ hours of De-escalation/Use of Force training this summer. The Defensive Training Staff today are some of the very best in the state: Instructor Trainer Ofc. Gordie Candow, Instructor Trainer Ofc. Chris Avey, Instructor Trainer Off. Tony Eydenberg and DT Trainer Ofc. Angelia Rodrigues.

Twenty students from the One Goal program at Lawrence High School visited the Fitchburg State University campus earlier this week. They took part in information sessions and a tour of our beautiful campus and state-of-the-art facilities.
