Fitchburg State University’s instrumental and choral ensembles performed a joint concert last evening in Weston Auditorium. The concert program served as  a showcase of “bite-sized” performances by the Community Orchestra, Concert Band, Concert Choir, Chamber Choir, the new Falcon Drumline, and the Fitchbyrds Modern Jazz Band. Ensembles included Fitchburg State students, community members, faculty and staff. Our Fitchburg State Choirs, under the direction of Dr. Jonathan Harvey, practice for this evening's Fall Music Mega Mix in Weston Auditorium. Edward Troxler teaching his guitar course in the Conlon Fine Arts building. In this class, students will learn the fundamentals of guitar playing including learning basic chords, scales, arpeggios and techniques for playing a variety of musical styles. Emphasis is placed on melody and accompaniment style texture as well as on individual and ensemble playing. Edward Troxler operates Eddy's Music located in Fitchburg, MA.

Director of Bands & Creative Arts Therapies Program Director, Professor Amy McGlothlin was on hand as Percussion Instructor Lydia Lucas ran try outs for our drumline, a new addition this fall outside of Landry Arena. This group will perform at Home Football games, other university sporting events, pep rallies, community outreach events, local parades and other campus wide events.
