A Drag Queen Story Hour was held yesterday afternoon in the Amelia V Gallucci-Cirio Library as part of the university's celebration of LGBTQ+ History Month. Drag Queen Story Hour (DQSH) is a children's event that was first started in 2015 by author and activist Michelle Tea in San Francisco with the goal to "inspire a love of reading, while teaching deeper lessons on diversity, self-love and an appreciation of others.

After yesterday afternoon's pep rally to kick off Homecoming Weekend, Ross St. Parking Lot was transformed for a Carnival. Homecoming is our annual celebration that brings our entire Falcon community together for an amazing fall weekend and the opening was amazing, we celebrated our athletic teams, and everyone enjoyed rides, games, food and more!

This afternoon, Student Development held Rock the Block XXVI on Highland Ave & on the Main Quad. Rock the Block gives students a chance to connect with over 150 Clubs, Organizations, Departments and Non-Profits. There are a plethora of activities, including an obstacle course, dinner, dunk tank, ice cream truck, club demonstrations, free stuff and so much more!

Associate Director of Student Development, Commuter and Volunteer Affairs Shane Franzen, Advisor for our Gay Straight Alliance Organization, hosted a Pride Flag Raising Ceremony on the Alumni Quad (between Hammond Hall and Thompson Hall) this afternoon in observance of Pride Month.. After remarks from Shane, recent Fitchburg State University graduate, and one-time GSA President Allison Turner, and GSA Treasurer Emily Maestri had the honor of raising the flag.
