This morning our athletic teams, staff, University Police, students, and more were spread out between Check-In at the Wallace Civic Center, and the dormitories on the main campus. Lots of smiles here on campus for Day 1 of the Fitchburg State University Fall Semester 2022 Move-in New/Transfer Student Early Arrival. This afternoon, our newest Falcons, the Class of 2026, met with Department Deans & Chairs, and Academic Advising at their Summer Orientation 2022.These first year students got a chance to go over their schedules as well as learn more about their chosen majors.

Our newest Falcons, along with their families & friends, viewed multiple presentations and information sessions today as part of our Summer Orientation 2022. Presentations from University Police, Commuter Affairs, the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion, Student Affairs, and Housing and Residential Services, among others, were all designed to ease the students into their new home here at Fitchburg State University. Students and their families even got a chance to win a prize in a Housing and Residential Services quiz.

This morning saw the last session in our Summer Orientation 2022 for Incoming first year students. Our newest Falcons, after registration, began the day with welcome remarks from Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Patricia Marshall, Vice President for Student Affairs Laura Bayless, and Associate Dean for Student Development Hank Parkinson. After introduction of our Orientation Leaders, groups ventured out to the quad for some ice breaker activities, campus tours, and then on to a day full of information sessions and activities.

This summer more than 65 students from Fitchburg State's Early College, Upward Bound, and Upward Math and Science Programs are taking part in Dual Enrollment courses made possible by a grant from the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education's Commonwealth Dual Enrollment Program. Here students in Professor Kyle Anderson's Earth Systems Science Class take part in a lab exploring the principles of Oceanography.
