Governor Healey Visits Fitchburg to Discuss Early College Programs

Gov. Maura Healey and Lt. Gov. Kim Driscoll joined other state and local education leaders and students at Fitchburg High School Thursday to talk about the impact of Early College programs.

Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Pat Marshall joined other university officials at the forum, where students discussed the life-changing impact that early college programs have had on their paths. 
 
The Healey-Driscoll administration has proposed $14.4 million for Early College and Innovation Pathways for the 2024 budget.

School of Graduate, Online and Continuing Education: Graduate Fair

For those who have ever wondered, "Should I get a master's degree?" They got the opportunity to find out at the School of Graduate, Online and Continuing Education Graduate Fair this afternoon in Hammond Hall, Main Lounge. Those interested were able to ask questions about graduate programs and meet with representatives from Fitchburg State University as well as ten other local universities. International Night

the Office of International Education sponsored an International Night last evening, where we celebrated our cultural heritage through food, presentations of dances, music and traditional garb. Food tasting stations included cuisines from Asia, Europe, Africa, Latin America (LASO), and India. Attendees were treated to Indian, Latin, and Finnish traditional dances and music.

Winter Orientation 2023

Winter Orientation was held in the Hammond Center this morning to welcome our newest Falcons to campus. After registration, the day began with welcome remarks from Dean for Student Development Hank Parkinson, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Patricia Marshall, Vice President for Student Affairs Laura Bayless, and our Student Orientation Leaders. Students and their families heard presentations from various student services departments including Commuter Affairs, Housing and Residential Services, Wellness & Counseling Services, Academic Coaching and Tutoring CenterCareer Services and Advising (CSA), Student Accounts, University Police, and Community Health Connections, Welcome to the flock!

Future Educator Academy - Badge Sessions

Recently, Lourdes Ramirez, coordinator of field placements, partnerships and recruitment for Fitchburg State’s School of Education welcomed a cohort of local high school students enrolled in The Future Educator Academy program to campus for a day of programming. Students completed a badge focused on Supporting Mental Wellness in the Classroom, Working with Students Who are Underserved, Traditionally Marginalized, and Disenfranchised, and a badge on performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) to adults and infants.

Students Visit Fitchburg State University

Members of our Admission Staff, along with our Student Ambassadors/Tour Guides, eagerly welcomed three groups to the Fitchburg State University campus Friday. We were delighted to host seventy students from Narragansett High School, twenty students from Boston Prep Charter School, and twelve transfer students. Each group attended Information session, toured our beautiful campus, and then had lunch where they were able to ask current students about the university.

TRIO Student Support Services Celebrates 25 Years at Fitchburg State University - I AM First Day

Yesterday afternoon, the Fitchburg State community gathered to celebrate the 25th anniversary of TRIO Student Support Services here on campus. Vice President for Student Affairs Dr. Bayless kicked things off  by welcoming everyone to the event, and thanking some key offices/personnel that helped make the event happen. Next, to honor I Am First Day, Dean of Students Dr. Hank Parkinson enlightened attendees with some "first-gen facts." Lastly, Director of TRIO Student Support Services Elizabeth Swartz thanked both speakers, and invited everyone to look at the four-floors poster-installation in the library, and enjoy cupcakes and refreshments.
