Surprise! It's Spring Week

Spring hasn’t quite sprung, but it’s springing, slowly. No matter the specifics of the season, Fitchburg State’s Spring Week is in full effect. Fitchburg is traveling the world in 7 days, so to speak.

This girl just read about Spring Week-- she's super pumped.

Each day a different culture around the world is represented in some way or another.

Classic Spanish dancing, Roman Gladiators, French mimes, American Barbeques, and etc. There’s a long list of things for students to enjoy in-between their cramming for finals.

 Expressions-14

The Fitchburg Activities Board is finally recognizing my favorite hobbies—getting free food and free t-shirts.

‘MERICA MONDAY

That’s right, what’s more American than cutting out the first letter and covering up our mistakes with an apostrophe? Not much. For ‘Merica Monday, there is a barbeque, a tye dye station, a photo booth, and some games to play in the quad.

A TRIP TO ASIA TUESDAY

Sumo wrestling, lion dancers, luck bamboo, food, and a petting zoo are among the many exciting bits of Fitchburg’s cultural infusion. Disclaimer: No pandas.

EUROCENTRIC WEDNESDAY

For this event there are Flamenco dancers, Belgian Waffles, a living statue, and a solo circus; which includes juggling and contortionists. The contortionist is interesting because I have a hard time putting on my shoes, so turning your body into a pretzel is pretty cool.

TREASURE ISLAND THURSDAY

Blackbeard isn’t making an appearance, but there is sand art, smoothies, airbrushed towels, inflatables and even more but I can only fit so many commas into a single sentence.

FRIDAY

Friday doesn’t have an exciting name, but that may be because Friday holds the most exciting event of them all—a jungle themed rave! Do you like dancing? This isn’t Footloose, you do—you might not even know it yet. It’s a fun time and the majority of the school shows up ready to rumble (with dance battles) ((maybe not, but they have fun)).

Obviously, Spring Week has passed for this year, but it was awesome to let loose and have some fun at the end of a long yet good school year. For incoming students, or for those that missed out on the fun, I can imagine next year being even better. The best is always coming, so get to Fitchburg State University and come have some fun.

These girls just read this blog on spring week, and are totally throwing their applications at Fitchburg because they want to come here so bad-- definitely not stock images, but legitimate excitement.

Read the Burg Blog, because that’s what this is, and check out the Fitchburg Point as well. It’s a good way to stay up to date on the hip happenings around campus. I promise nobody other than me says hip happenings. Don’t worry.

Happy Spring my friends. Comment below and let me know what you'd like to see at next year's Spring Week. I'd love to hear what you think.
