This morning, Women's Soccer Coach Jeb Booth devised a scavenger hunt race so that his players would get familiar with offices and departments on campus. Knowing where to go when you need help, or anything else, is often a hurdle, for college students. This race aids in overall student success.

Students in the 8th Fitchburg State University Police Program's Recruit Officer Course (ROC) began their motor vehicle stops coursework this morning with Spencer Police Sergeant Patrick Waugh.

This morning, the university welcomed members of our newest Nursing Student cohort to campus for the START STRONG; Your Nursing Journey Begins Here program. After checking in, settling in the dorm, and breakfast, Professor and Chair of the Nursing Program Deborah Benes discussed the program, expectations and student  support with parents and families. Meanwhile, Nursing Program Professor Karen Beaton. along with current students and faculty, began an array of activities with the students.

This morning at Elliot Field, our Fitchburg State Athletics Staff and team members gathered to assist our  Fitchburg State Falcon Football team be fitted for their gear.

President Hodge stopped by yesterday's  Office of Alumni and Giving Alumni Board meeting in Percival to discuss her vision for the upcoming school year, stress her gratitude for he important work the Alumni Board is engaged in.

Housing & Residential Services welcomed students on the Falcon Football team  this morning as they, like other student athletes get an early start on the semester. Family, and friends helped the newest residents get settled before they ramp up for this years football season.

Fitchburg State University Communications Media major Joshua Cronin, who is producing North Central News on Fitchburg Access Television's (FATV), spent this afternoon with Fitchburg Public Library Director Deb Hinkle and  Co-Chair of the OWL Campaign Rob Favini for a segment on the progress of the library renovation. Josh and fellow senior Communications Media Zoe Chrisostomides recently won a National Hometown Media Award for Community Events, presented by the Foundation of the Alliance for Community Media for the 2024 Halloween edition of North Central News, read more about the award here. 

Family and roommate vibes were in full swing as we welcomed incoming Falcons, their families, and friends today for Housing and Residential Services' First Look Friday event. First Look Friday gives new residential students a chance to see their residence halls, the size and layout of their rooms, visit common areas, meet future classmates, and more, in advance of move-in next month.  Fitchburg State University Police comfort-dog-in-training Zara was on hand as well.

This afternoon, our Transfer Orientation wrapped up on Hammond Plaza. As the new Falcons  departed, they grabbed a Welcome to the Flock T-Shirt, exchanged information, grabbed a snack, enjoyed some crafting - including the popular stuff-a-bear,  and got some last minute questions answered buy our Orientation Leaders- see you soon!
