Recent graduate hired to work on the set of 'Survivor'

Michael Labrecque, a 2022 graduate of our university transferred to Fitchburg State in January of 2020 from a college in Arizona. His decision to transfer came down to his friend Peter ‘21 telling him about how great the Communications Media program is here.

Summer Orientation Session 2 - Meet with Deans & Chairs

Our newest Falcons, the Class of 2026, made their way to the Holmes Dining Common this morning where they met with Department Deans & Chairs, and Academic Advising at their Summer Orientation 2022. These first year students got a chance to go over their schedules as well as learn more about their chosen majors.

Around Campus - Summer Orientation - Session 2

Our Summer Orientation 2022 Session 2 for for Incoming first year students began this morning with check-in, followed by welcome remarks from Associate Dean for Student Development Hank Parkinson, Vice President for Student Affairs Laura Bayless, and Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Catherine Canney. Afterwards, groups of the newest Falcons groups went out to the quad for some ice breaker activities, then to a day full of information sessions and activities. Later in the morning, and impromptu game of "beach" volleyball broke out in Weston Auditorium.

Summer Orientation - Session 1 - Family & Friends Send-off

Yesterday afternoon, our Summer Orientation 2022 Session 1 was capped off with our newest Falcons, the Class of 2026 along with their Family & Friends, treated to a  send-off celebration at the North Street Hammond Patio. All partook in information sessions, revolving around housing & parking, ice cream, music, Freddy the Falcon, and some Fitchburg State University swag!

Center for Italian Culture gala to Support Student Scholarships

The Center for Italian Culture (CIC) at Fitchburg State University celebrated more than 20 years of supporting scholarships and programming with a fundraising gala at the Fitchburg Art Museum on Saturday, June 11.

The CIC, founded with a major gift by the late Amelia V. Gallucci-Cirio of Fitchburg State’s Class of 1938, has been a fixture on the university campus for over 20 years. Throughout its history, the center has sponsored programs that celebrate Italian contributions to Western civilization and supported study abroad scholarships that let university students and faculty explore the wider world.

AXON Roadshow at Wallace Civic Center

Fitchburg Massachusetts' Mayor Stephen l. DiNatale and Chief of Police Ernest F. Martineau stopped by the Wallace Civic Center this morning for the AXON Roadshow to learn about cutting edge products in the field of protection. They, along with students in our Fitchburg State University Police Program's Recruit Officer Course (ROC) got a chance to try virtual reality training, fire off the latest in taser technology, drone piloting, and so much more.

Orientation Leader Training - Tour of Fitchburg, MA

Our Office of Student Development Student Orientation Leaders, who are on campus preparing for orientation sessions for our newest Falcons, The Class of 2026, took a tour of Fitchburg, MA yesterday with Associate Director of Student DevelopmentCommuter and Volunteer Affairs Shane Franzen acting as Tour Guide. The trip included many points of interest including the Fitchburg Art Museum, Flat Rock Wildlife Sanctuary, Game On, Dean Hill Cemetery (The Rev), and Cogshall Park. Other points of interest like shopping, restaurants, and local landmarks were pointed out during the drive. The tour was capped of with ice cream at Country Pizza.
