Around Campus - Marketing Communication Class

Students in Dr. Robert Carr's Marketing Communication course continue working on their collaborative project with writer, storyteller and 2015 Fitchburg State University graduate Cillea Houghton on the first issue of the No One Is Listening Journal, which is centered around the theme of peace, in addition to a Pay It Forward challenge that connects to the theme of the issue. No One Is Listening is a new media platform Cillea founded with the mission to connect people across cultures through the power of voice. This will be accomplished through 3 pillars: On the Page (written and print pieces), In the World (live events) and On the Screen (video content).

Intro to Geospatial Technology - Scavenger Hunt

 It was Cache Me If You Can vs. Head Bosses In Charge in  Earth and Geographic Sciences Professor Jane Huang's Intro to Geospatial Technology class. On Monday,  each team hid small objects around campus and now have to find the other team's objects using GPS (Global Positioning System). This is a gateway course to theories, skills, and techniques of geospatial technologies, such as GPS, Google Earth, GIS (Geographic Information System), and remote sensing. Hands-on computer exercises based on a wide range of social and physical features are utilized to provide a solid foundation for further geospatial technologies classes.

Law Enforcement Reverse Career Fair

Fitchburg State University Police Program  Police Academy Director Alexandra Wysocki welcomed representatives from over a dozen law enforcement agencies to the Hammond Main Lounge yesterday afternoon for the  Career Services and Advising Center's Law Enforcement Reverse Career Fair. A reverse career fair flips the table, students stationed at tables get a chance to pitch themselves to employers, who in turn get quality one-on-one time with job seekers.

Around Campus - Voice II

After some warm up exercises, students in Theater Professor Kelly Morgan's Voice II class recite an excerpt in a dialect of their choice and are given feedback. This course expands the fundamentals of Voice I that included breath, diction, relaxation, articulation and resonance. This involves work on verse and lyric vocal education with works of Shakespeare, Restoration, Moliere and The Greeks. Techniques gained from these classical structures are applied to various forms of character voice work, dialect and commercial voice-over techniques.

Around Campus - Intro to Film and Video

Students in Communications Media Professor Robert Harris' Intro to Film and Video class work on lighting projects. Intro to Film & Video is the introductory course in the Film & Video sequence where students are exposed to the basics of production and post-production for both digital and photochemical media. Topics include understanding and using visual language, camera operation, understanding the film and video production process, basic editing, production crew structure and interpersonal communication. Around Campus - Genetics Lab; Tissue Culture

Biology and Chemistry Professor Ronald Krieser gives a lesson in tissue culture in his Genetics Lab  in the Antonucci Science Complex. In this course, basic principles of biological information processing are examined including Mendelian inheritance, sex determination, chromosome cytogenetics, linkage, recombination and genetic mapping, mutagenesis, molecular genetics and gene-enzyme relationships, and quantitative inheritance. Learn more about our School of Health and Natural Sciences here.

Game Design - Fall Game Jam!

The conclusion of the Game Design program's annual Fall Game Jam took place Friday afternoon in the Conlon Game Labs. Game Design students, who worked in small teams to make games got together in the game labs, along with faculty, to celebrate their hard work and play their, and each others' games.
