Fitchburg State University’s instrumental and choral ensembles performed a joint concert last evening in Weston Auditorium. The concert program served as a showcase of “bite-sized” performances by the university’s choirs, bands and orchestra. Students assist Technical Theater Professor Jo Nazro with creating the set for the Theater Programs production of the live radio play of the holiday classic "It's a Wonderful Life." The Frank Capra classic will be presented as a live radio broadcast in front of a studio audience, with actors performing as dozens of characters and creating sound effects. The conclusion of the Game Design program's annual Fall Game Jam took place Friday afternoon in the Conlon Game Labs. Game Design students, who worked in small teams to make games that addressed the theme of "Day in Night", got together in the game labs, along with faculty, to celebrate their hard work and play their, and each others' games.

The 5th Annual Go Falcons Challenge began Wednesday with President Lapidus' kick-off gift to each Falcon Athletics team. With Freddy spreading the word.
This was our largest Go Falcons Challenge to date with over 80 student athletes contacting over 1,800 Alumni and past sports donors along with a large number of family and friends to secure over 450 individual gifts (454) and over $20,000 ($20,654). This represents a 17.5% increase in donations and a 45% Increase in individuals making a donation to support one of our teams.

Fitchburg State University will launch a community of research fellows mentored by faculty this fall with a newly-announced grant from the Moderna Charitable Foundation.
The university’s Biology and Chemistry Department will lead the effort, targeting traditionally underserved populations to engage students in mentorship and high-impact practices as an undergraduate research community. Students will also be paid stipends for their time in the program.
Fitchburg State University this year joined the College Fed Challenge, a national competition wherein teams of undergraduate students from across the country analyze economic and financial conditions and develop monetary policy recommendations. Their proposals are then offered in formal presentations to teams of judges.
