Students in Environmental and Earth Science Professor Christopher Picone's Ecology Lab wrapped up a week long experiment involving the tomato horn worm feeding and growth. The subjects were fed a certain amount of natural or manmade food, and then they, and their waste, was weighed and recorded. Some subjects' weight increased 10X their starting weight.

Students currently in their third year, work worth second year students in Nursing Professor Jennifer Dupuis  Nursing Foundations Patient Care Lab. The third year students, drawing on their own experiences, act as the patient and assist the second year students through the patient care process. 

Students in Engineering Technology Professor Wayne Whitfield's Engineering Design & Fabrication II course continue working on their projects. This course studies mass production theory, systems and procedures in woodworking and residential construction, includes engineering design and leads to prototype development. 

Members of the faculty looked at the historical factors that have led to what has been called the Second October War in Israel and Gaza, while exploring how the crisis fits into other contexts, in Ellis White Lecture Hall yesterday afternoon. Professor Joshua Spero moderated a panel discussion, which also included Michael Hoberman (English Studies),Eric Budd (Economics, History and Political Science), Yasser Derwiche Djazaerly (Humanities), Benjamin Lieberman (Economics, History and Political Science), R. Brad Bannon (Humanities) and Wafa Unus (English Studies)

Fitchburg State University was delighted to host MassINC's 11th Annual Gateway Cities Innovation Institute Awards & Summit today at our Recreation Center. This event focused on positioning Gateway Cities to play a leading role in the clean energy transition. After an energetic performance by Cypha in da Burg, City of Fitchburg Mayor Stephen DiNatale and Massachusetts Lt. Governor Kim Driscoll welcomed attendees from across the state. Fitchburg State University President Dr. Richard S. Lapidus opened the Awards portion of the day's events. 

Faculty from our Biology and Chemistry Department faced off against students in the Biology & Chemistry Club in an epic kickball game on the Main Quad late yesterday afternoon.

This morning, the Office of Student Development teamed up with Housing and Residential Services hosting Pancakes & Parking a Commuter-centric informational event on the Street Level of the Hammond Hall.

Students in Dr. Lisa Grimm's Life Science for Educators investigate the reproduction of plants in their lab. This course covers a broad array of life science topics including cellular, organismal, and human biology. It is designed to provide a foundation in the life sciences for education majors (K-8). The course includes a laboratory component designed to develop the students' understanding of the scientific method and provide some biology methodologies that will aid students in the development of lesson plans and classroom activities. An integrative approach is taken for some aspects of this course to establish connections to other sciences (earth science, chemistry, engineering).
