Students in Professor Nancy Green's  Nursing Health Assessment Lab get a foundation for nursing assessment of the adult client. They develop interviewing techniques, health history taking, physical assessment and critical thinking skills. This clinical component allows students to apply classroom knowledge to real-life situations.

This morning, on this National Coffee with a Cop Day, the Fitchburg State University community had the chance to meet with Chief Michael Cloutier and members  of the Fitchburg State University Police as they hosted Coffee with a Cop in the Falcon Hub. MA State Police therapy dog Luna was there as well. The mission of Coffee with a Cop is to break down the barriers between police officers and the citizens they serve.

Career Services and Advising (CSA) hosted an Internship Fair in the Hammond Main Hall this afternoon. The fair gave students the opportunity to meet an array of local businesses and services face-to-face to discuss internships and potential employment.

Commuter and Volunteer Affairs and Advisor, Gay Straight Alliance (GSA) welcomed attendees to the second annual LGBTQ+ Flag Presentation in the Falcon Hub in honor of LGBTQ+ History Month. Dr. Jonathan Harvey and the Fitchburg State Choir opened the ceremony with “I am a Voice that Sings” and closed with "Somewhere Over the Rainbow."

Students in Professor Kevin McCarthy's Multi-Camera Television Production course spent this morning's class at Fitchburg Access Television (FATV) and got to see what it's like to produce a talk show.  Fitchburg Access Television (FATV) Production Assistant Jarrod Roberts was on hand to help out. Students switched between various roles including control room operations (teleprompters, broadcast switchers, digital audio boards and lighting control panels), and studio roles (floor direction, camera operation, studio lighting, studio sound techniques).

Students in Professor Michael S. McCutcheon's Criminal Investigation course evaluated and identified fingerprint types. This course will enable the student to understand the fundamentals of the criminal investigation process. Earlier this week, the Office of Student Development (OSD) staff invited everyone to "Stop by &  Spill the Tea" in G-Lobby of Hammond Hall. Tea. both hot & cold, hot cider, and an array of refreshments were offered with the interest of student feedback; What can OSD change?  What's on your mind? What's your question or concern? All feedback will be answered on the OSD Facebook and Instagram accounts.

Professor Jennifer Dupuis helps students with nursing knowledge and theory in her Nursing Foundations Lab - including a "field trip" to the Nursing Office to take vitals. In this course, emphasis is placed on professionalism, caring, communication, cultural considerations, spirituality, sexuality and health promoting activities. 

Students in Exercise and Sports Science Professor Lindsay Parisi Exercise Physiology I Lab took resting and exercise blood pressures in the North St. Exercise & Sports Science Lab. In this course, human systemic response and adaptation to exercise and exercise training are studied in-depth. Topics included are epidemiology and physiology in health and disease, homeostasis and exercise metabolism, bioenergetics, nutrition, exercise and performance, exercise prescriptions for health, training, exercise and the environment and factors limiting performance. Laboratory experiences provide practical assessment skills as well as application of the scientific method to problems and issues in this field.
