Students in Film and Video Professor Robert Harris' Film Styles Genres & Movements class were in the studio setting up for an interview with Alum Buffy Cautela ‘22 for a segment for Film School Confidential: Stories of Fitchburg State Communications Department Past & Present. Students enrolled in the Fitchburg State University Police Program's Recruit Officer Course (ROC) had their monthly meeting yesterday afternoon at our Recreation Center. Lead Physical Training (PT) instructor Eric Bailey, along with PT instructors Dr. Jess Alsup and Dr. Lindsay Parisi of our Exercise Sports Science Program (EXSS) introduced the class to the importance of PT, and ran members of the 7th ROC through some PT exercises.

Yesterday afternoon, Provost Patricia Marshall welcomed those gathered in the President's Hall for Professor Teresa Fava Thomas' presentation of the Harrod Lecture "The Forever Shutdown: The Hamilton Woolen Strike of 1934." After an introduction by Paul Weizer, Chair of the Economics, History and Political Science Professor Fava Thomas discussed the history of the mill as well as the United Textile Workers' launch of a nation-wide strike.
English Studies Professor Katharine Covino's Literature for Young Adults course students, who read Fitchburg State University alumni Robert Cormier’s canonical novel The Chocolate War. and who dug deeper into the story by working collaboratively with their classmates in the Robert E. Cormier Archive gave their final presentations in Thompson Hall.

This morning, the Career Services and Advising Center and the Engineering Technology Department held a Lunch & Learn Engineering Technology Employer Roundtable event. Representatives from AIS Inc., FM Global, Gorman Richardson Lewis Architects (GRLA), and Walsh Brothers were on hand to network with students in Conlon Hall. Networking events serve as an excellent opportunity for our students to connect with potential employers, learn about different career paths, and gain valuable insights into the current job market.
