Fitchburg State University was honored to be part of the groundbreaking ceremony for the NewVue Communities' Fitchburg Arts Community Ribbon Cutting, a transformative downtown project that has converted long-vacant buildings into new artist live/work space. This project is the culmination of endeavors by local, state, and federal elected officials in addition to grass roots community effort.
After remarks by NewVue Communities Executive Director Mark Dohan, some officials including Fitchburg Mayor Sam Squailia, Congresswoman Lori Trahan, State Senator John Cronin, State Representative Michael Kushmerek, Secretary of the Executive Office of Housing and Livable Communities Ed Augustus, Fitchburg Art Museum Director Nick Capasso, were just some of those who spoke of the importance of the day and the project.
With other projects now taking shape downtown, the project will help Fitchburg's evolution as an arts and culture destination.
