Our Office of Student Development Student Orientation Leaders are on campus preparing for orientation sessions for our newest Falcons, The Class of 2028. After moving in, and reconnecting over lunch, the Orientation Leaders began a week of training.

This morning, the 7th Fitchburg State University Police Program's Recruit Officer Course (ROC)  class continued their First Responder training with how to assess and treat various wounds and injuries. 

The 7th Fitchburg State University Police Program's Recruit Officer Course (ROC)  class learned de-escalation techniques and methods of safe restraint prior to their first defensive training session next week.

This morning, the 7th Fitchburg State University Police Program's Recruit Officer Course (ROC)  class continued their First Responder training with various health assessments and emergency procedures.

Communications Media Professor Kevin McCarthy met with students who will be taking part in our Study Abroad opportunity; Rhetoric in Greece and Travelogue Filmmaking which departs campus on June 7th. Today Professor McCarthy discussed media tools, storage, and logging procedures - the planning that needs to happen with travelogue filmmaking.

Fitchburg State University Police Officer, and Certified CPR Instructor, Timothy Grant, along with Fitchburg State University Police Program's Recruit Officer Course (ROC) training staff, began day one of intensified CPR training of the 7th Fitchburg State University Police Program's Recruit Officer Course (ROC)  class.

Our Adult Learning in the Fitchburg Area (ALFA) program celebrated it's  20th Anniversary with a celebration in the Falcon Hub. Associate Dean, 
School of Graduate, Online, and Continuing Education Dr. Lisa Moison and University President Dr. Richard Lapidus welcomed guests to the event. The celebration included a lunch buffet with the bluesy folk fusion of five-piece band Tattoo, awards and recognitions followed by a mini-sampling of current ALFA courses led by our community instructors.  performance by Tattoo   There is also a Community Gallery installation at the Fitchburg Art Museum through May 27. ALFA is a lifelong learning institute that serves adult learners in Fitchburg and the surrounding communities.

At the culmination of today's Faculty and Librarian Development Day, the Celebration for Faculty and Librarian Excellence was held in the Holmes Dining Complex. As the faculty wrapped up their sessions, Emeriti Faculty were welcomed to reconnect prior to the event. 

Today was the first day of Physical Training (PT) for the 7th  Fitchburg State University Police Program's Recruit Officer Course (ROC). Lead PT instructor Eric Bailey introduced the class to the first phase of PT, along with PT instructor Dr. Jess Alsup of our Exercise Sports Science Program (EXSS). We would like to thank State Representative Mike Kushmerek for coming out this morning to meet and work out with the 7th. Dean Sara Levine also stopped by the field to show support.

This morning our faculty and librarians held their annual end of semester/academic year Development Day in the Main Lounge of Hammond Hall. Topics included Maintaining a Scholarly Identity at a Teaching-Intensive  Institution, a panel discussion: Maintaining an Active Research Practice, and more.
