As part of Human Resources and Payroll Services Development Programs, Maria Millagros Vasquez, Class of 2001, author and motivational speaker empowered participants to find their why, practice intentionality, own their happiness, honor their feelings, and live in the present moment. A sense of belonging begins with oneself. Director of Title IX & Equal Opportunity Rebecca H. Newell introduced Maria, who kicks off the University’s Belonging Campaign with this  keynote presentation.

 Earth and Geographic Sciences Professor Jane Huang works with Criminal Justice students in her GIS (Geographic Information System) for Criminal Justice course in the Antonucci Science Complex.  The course introduces students to the theory and application of crime mapping and analysis in a GIS (Geographic Information System) environment. Students will learn the criminological theories that supports crime analysis and place-based policing. Students will also learn the basic skills of using GIS to create crime maps and to analyze crime patterns. 

School of Health and Natural Sciences Professor Dr. Ronald Krieser held a Health Professions Advising session yesterday afternoon in the Antonucci Science Complex. This session focused on podiatry and suturing. Dr. D. Ghannoum, Chief Podiatric Surgery Resident, Saint Vincent Hospital talked with students about Podiatric Medicine, and Podiatric Medical School. He was then joined by three fellow Podiatrists to  conduct a workshop on suturing.

This morning, students in English Studies Professor Katharine Covino's The Banned Books Club: Exploring Book Challenges & Censorship Adult Learning in the Fitchburg Area (ALFA) course gathered in the The Amelia V. Gallucci-Cirio Library Archives where University Archivist Asher Jackson discussed Fitchburg State University alumni Robert Cormier’s canonical novel The Chocolate War. often a target of book banning. While there, students were able to view the expansive Robert E. Cormier Archives related to the novel, and discuss various aspects of its potential banning.

Alum Fouad Nasr, and fellow Barbizon Lighting Company Salesperson Zoe Harris were recently on campus with ETC Field Project Coordinator Jason Perry to demonstrate lighting fixtures during Theater Technical  Director Jo Nazro's Advanced Stage Light Design class. Today was a beautiful day for the first installment of our  Fall Open House. It's an ideal way for perspective students to find out everything they want to know about Fitchburg State University. After a welcome from President Hodge, attendees took part in information sessions - where they had the opportunity to meet with faculty, current students, coaches, and staff, and later were able to tour the campus. Students in Earth and Geographic Sciences Professor Elizabeth Gordon's Oceanography class learn about the density and salinity of seawater in the Antonucci Science Complex. This course is designed to provide students with an overview of fundamental scientific concepts that describe ocean processes. Topics include marine geology (ocean basins, sediments), marine chemistry (properties of seawater), and physical oceanography (waves, tides, currents), with some discussion of biological oceanography.

Students in Professor Robert Harris' Intro to Film and Video class  worked on their projects at various places on campus. Learn about our Film & Video Program here.

 Nursing  students learn the methods of, and importance of dealing with patient mobility issues in their Nursing Foundations Lab. In this course, emphasis is placed on professionalism, caring, communication, cultural considerations, spirituality, sexuality and health promoting activities.
